Sorry, this is a forum for games, not movies.
And if you're going to try and make an arguement, then at least make it sound like you have the mental capacity of a six year old.

That done, I would have picked something other than Fable 2. Yes, it was a good game, but it was majorly underwhelming. In terms of "fun" in games, I'd give it to Left 4 Dead. In terms of scoring, Persona 4. In terms of design -despite hating it myself- I would have picked GTA4.

Adam & Morgan, I watch the show daily and love it...I do have one question...
How does Fable 2 win GOTY and not best RPG? Is it really not defined by any kind of genre? If its not an RPG it has to be an Adventure game and it didn't win that category?

At E3 you named InFamous as best PS3 game, beating out LBP. LBP then goes on to win Best In Show Overall...What other platform is LBP on?!

There's a good number of reasons why MGS4 didn't deserve it, but is there really even 1 reason why Fable 2 does? I liked it and all, but GOTY? No.

As much as I dislike Nintendo these days, I'm amazed the likes of SSBB was not included.

Of the listed nominees, I'd say Left4Dead wins with plenty of breathing room.

This is ridiculous. I think MGS4 is the game of the year but I could understand Fallout 3, Resistance 2 or Gears of War 2. It is pretty clear that G4 is biased towards Microsoft and has something against Sony. Fable 2 was not the game of the year. It’s great but not as good as the other games I mentioned. I know MGS4 had a lot of cut scenes but they add to the story and overall experience so I don’t have a problem with them. Just a terrible choice.

On another note why are these awards so inconsistent. If a game is game of the year than it is the best in its respective category. It has to be that way. It’s not just Fable 2, LBP at E3 won best of show but lost best PS3 game to Infamous. Halo 3 won game of the year at Gphoria (somehow) but lost best multiplayer and every other award it was nominated for (I know it was fan voted but the fact remains the same). I think they’re trying to act original or profound but this is not the place for that. I know that dominating performances like Gears of War and Oblivion were boring they were more accurate in terms of who deserved them. And besides with this knew video game market the competitions will be closer anyway. The point is each game should win what they merit. Don’t just try to split the rewards.

Anyways the winner should have been MGS4 because it revolutionized gaming and it got a lot of good scores from critics. Not gayble 2.

All and all this "Best of 08" was horrible! I disagreed with almost every choice. Especially Fable being GOTY. I can name at least 5 other games that were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better! G4, you dropped the ball.

LOL... I hate fan boys(don't judge me by my User Name), but they do make me laugh. Anyway, Fable 2 is a great game, but GOTY hmmmmmm I guess. I personally would've chose GTA IV, but remember people, it's their opinion and I could say that your opinions are wrong and stupid, but will that mean anything to you, probably not. Fable 2 is a good game but compared to the other games on the list its the worst. Left 4 Dead is definitely the best game. you never play it the same way twice and its the most fun and addicting game I have ever played.

Let me take a stab at justifying Fable 2 here:

Crowning a "Game of the Year" has different meaning to different groups of people. Us hopeless nerds/dorks who spend time commenting here are well versed in the gaming industry. So to us, a GOTY prize pretty much just boils down to a pat on the back for those who bought it. I think it's safe to say that the PS3 fanboys here aren't going to ever even play the game, for fear that it might somehow undermine their own choice by acknoledging anything on the competition. Likewise if it were LBP that took the crown, Xbox fanboys would still never touch it.

So who does it have meaning to? To the more casual gamers, and even to non-gamers, being awarded GOTY means it's the single must-own game from the whole year. Now, pointing to the accessability and simple-complexity (I know that doesn't make much sence) that was highlighted in the review, if one game this year is going to take people who scoff at gaming culture for the most part and warm their hearts up to it, it would be Fable 2.

Hey Crackheads. I think Left 4 Dead is awesome. And Fable II looks alittle good. But MGS4 I dislike. I used to like it but now I'm done. I think Gears of War 2 should be GOTY!! I am pretty much in-love with the first one and would love to get the second one. Gears of War 2 should be GOTY because what game do you know of where you can cut enemies up with a chainsaw attached to a machine gun and get blood all over the screen. =D Thank you. - Jacob.

Guys, come on dont support MGS4, its like the SLOWEST fast action game ever. Why the F does the box even say tactical espionage ACTION! It should be called a Tactical espionage humping the ground game. Oh no! a PMC sees me i better go hide in a dark corner and hope he cant find me while the player has to stare at my squeaky old man cheeks while he waits for the PMCs to leave...even though im a supersoldier.

OMG this is ridiculous. im getting pissed of hearing MGS4 is GOTY and oh no i hate x-play now because my fave game of the year did not win. Fable 2 is an amazing game and is a must buy but remember THIS IS X-PLAY, there show NOT YOURS. they really like fable 2 and gave it 5 stars and im not going to complain, its there opinion and everybody has a different taste for games even myself, my pick of GOTY would be little big planet. if adam and morgan say fable 2 is game of the year check it out and see for your self if you think its game of the year. all the grate games that came out like Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Fallout 3, Little Big Planet, Grand Theft Auto 4, Left 4 Dead, Metal Gear Solid 4, and No More Heroes could get GOTY by other reviewers.

I remember when Halo3 won GOTY at xplays GPhoria 08(the one picked by the public), and Halo3 has got to be the best game ive ever played, its awesome, and the controls are tight.And then everybody started insulting it just like fable 2. The conclusion i hav drawn from this is: Its easy to hate the BEST!

Fable II made alot of false promises, MGS4 was 1 cutsence after another, Resistance 2 is revolutionary but is still not worth GOTY, GOW2 was very weak in comparison to the first gears, Fallout 3 *spoiler* who wants to play a game when you die in the end and can't continue like you could with other bathesda games, LBP wasn't even nominated, But this is X-Play and if anything their rating tends to be extreamly accurate with good detail if your unsure of a game. Let the fan boys cry over who won. But remember this its just a Tv show. LOTRO has won numerous MMORPG titles and is in the guiness book of world records and they were not even mentioned 1 time in this telecast

Alright, I'm as shocked and awed as everyone else that Fable II was selected Game of the Year, let's hope that perhaps G4 will pick a different Game of the Year and just leave this XPlay's choice...

I just want some justification on why Fable II beat Fallout 3 as GOTY, I mean first off Fallout 3 is not an exclusive title so it reaches every console therefore every gamer possible. Fable II while also being exclusive merely delivers the game we were all promised by Peter "Golden Tongue" Molyneux back on the original XBox... it's not inventive, creative, or even interesting so much as a old toy with new paint.

Sad day XPlay on letting us all down.
