@Ganthet Image has more than the three good books. Besides the ones you mentioned, there's Chew, Dynamo 5, Noble Causes, GIrls, Gemini...
And Blaire does review Mainstream stuff. She's already sited Secret Six, a DC book, as her favorite on going series. She also frequently mentions Daredevil, Captain America, Spider-man, Batman and Robin, Fantastic four... I'm not really sure what show your watching. If she leans on a more independent note at times, it's because most people...

Leave a Comment »Fresh Ink Online Presents: Brian Michael Bendis Interview
Dig this 2-part Fresh Ink Online special where host Blair Butler chats with comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis at Golden Apple Comics in Hollywood.
In Part 1, they chat about the evolution of Spiderwoman, from The Avengers to his upcoming print and motion comic editions, which leads to a spirited discussion of comics going digital via Kindle, iTunes, and Apple or Microsoft tablets. What does the future hold for comic books, and does going digital represent the death of print media?
In Part 2, Blair and Brian chat about the evolution of intellectual property and creator-owned books. They get into the history of bringing Bendis' acclaimed comic Torso to the big screen, and he gives insight into consulting on the Iron Man movie and being part of the Marvel creative committee. You’ll also get juicy details on the Powers TV pilot for FX, plus updates on Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Thor movie and the upcoming Avengers movie. In addition, Brian talks about the re-launch of Powers on November 27 and the December launch of Marvel’s 4-issue mini-series Siege, which kicks off with the Siege of the Cabal debut issue, unites Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, and marks a seismic shift in the Avengers books via the end of the Dark Reign plot. Whew!

Thanks for the interview Blair & crew. Bendis came off as okay, he's kind of a doof, and you looked like the more mature one, but there were some interesting moments in there. ;)

Hi Blair,
love the show...I follow every week. I have a couple of questions:
1. do you have any online comics (comics that are published online and not necessarily in paperback) that you like e.g. virtualshackles.com
2. do you have your own website
3. are there any comic book websites that you like that you could put us onto e.g. kotaku.com for technology are there some that you like for comics
thanks

Blair, you said DC did their own version of Strange Tales. What was the name of it? I hope you're not referring to Wednesday Comics.

Leave a Comment »Fresh Ink Online: Interview With Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance, Umbrella Academy)
Hey, gang! Host Blair Butler is out this week on a rare vacation. Yes, even Blair gets to take some time off once in a while. So instead of a new episode of Fresh Ink Online, we are running this awesome interview with My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.
Of course, in addition to being a big rock star, Gerard is a superb illustrator and writer, and the man behind the terrific comic The Umbrella Academy (Dark Horse Comics). We here at Fresh Ink Online are always thrilled when he stops by, and this is a very special opportunity to get inside his head.
In Part 1 of this sit-down chat, Gerard talks about how he became involved in the comic book world, who his influences and collaborators are, and how the surprise success of the band nearly pulled him away from his true passion, comics.
In Part 2, he chats in depth with Blair about The Umbrella Academy, how it came to be and where it’s going. He also discusses upcoming comic projects and what’s next for My Chemical Romance.
This is fascinating stuff from a man who truly wears many, many hats. Of course, he is not actually wearing a hat here, per se, but you get the picture.
Come back next week when Blair returns, all tan and filled with sunshine, to cover two weeks of brand new comics. And make sure to visit us on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace if ya got the guts!
Part 1:
Part 2:
…and after the jump, dig Gerard’s Fresh Ink Online guest hosting gig from a few months ago.
I have been into MCR since 2003 and it was from one random day at hot topic that I looked at the apocalypse suite with his name on it. I know some people think its being a geek poser to start liking comics just because your star likes it, but I think its wonderful, because its bringing more people into this culture and its because of gerard way that I got into comics and read great works of some of my favorite writers, like alan moore, neil gaiman, grant morrison, mark miller, and the lucas...
