Hello, nostalgia. How are you? We should take a walk and find out if Square Enix's Final Fantasy VIII still holds up. At long last, the publisher has made the love-it-or-hate-it second PS One Final Fantasy release available over PlayStation Network, rendering it playable on PlayStation 3 and PSP.
Final Fantasy VIII is currently available on PSN for $9.99.

I would get it if there was an update in graphics and sound effects, and had more content then the original, but seeing as I still own the original game and the fact the ps3 plays psx game discs makes it not worth it for me.

I'm tempted to purchase a Playstation 3 just to download RPGs like this one and 7. I would like to see Square Enix make this game and 7 available again on the PC, but I'm not holding my breath at all.. I would like to see it on Steam or Direct 2 Drive.

Same here. I still have all the original versions of the FF games so these DL'able versions aren't useful to me.

This is great news! I always get an overwhelming sense of nostalgia when I play this and VII. I've never played IX, but everyone says it's great. So, can't wait for that release.

No, they don't need to release a few PS2 games on PSN. Instead, they need to release an emulator for the PS3 that will run PS2 games once more.

Downloading now...kinda excited never played this one I've only played 7 (and every side 7 game), 10, and 12. Damn lotta FF news today this will help kill time til 12 for sure.
Kinda upset I had to clear up so much room tho...I had to delete FFVII off my memory stick good thing I can download it again but still.

It was weird how the FF Community was split about liking/hating this game when it first came out back in the day. Personally, I enjoyed the relationship between Squall/Rinoa more than I did with Tidus/Yuna. (Squall got some skillz on the dance floor!)
