Ubisoft has revealed a bit of its plan for Assassin's Creed II DLC. Here's what we know:
- Battle of Forli: The first downloadable AC 2 content comes out in January.
- Bonfire of the Vanities: The second portion of AC 2 DLC comes out in February.
Both will be for the 360 and PS3 versions of the game, with prices to be determined.
I'd love to tell you more, but, right now, Ubisoft isn't saying -- the above represents all they have revealed. So, in the absence of "real" information, allow me to give you some background on the meaning of the titles of the DLC.
Forli is a city in Northeastern Italy. During the years roughly coinciding with Assassin's Creed II, it was the "property" of ruthless Lord Pino III. Pino died at 40, and many think he was poisoned... hey, maybe by an assassin! After his death, various factions fought for control of Forli, but eventually, the Pope (Sixtus IV) gave the signory to his nephew Gerolamo Riario. According to Wikipedia:
"Riario was married to Caterina Sforza, the indomitable Lady of Forlì whose name is associated with the city's last independent history. Forlì was seized in 1488 by Visconti and in 1499 by Cesare Borgia, after whose death it became more directly subject to the pope than ever been before (apart from an ephemeral return of Ordelaffi in 1503-1504)."
In short: You have enough material for at least a dozen full games there.
"Bonfire of the Vanities" is the name of an over-rated Tom Wolfe novel, but it's also the name for the Church-directed process of burning objects that are seen as leading to sin. The most famous bonfire took place in Florence in 1497 and involved citizens burning mirrors, objects of art, dresses, playing cards, makeup, musical instruments and books.
What do you think we'll see in the Assassin's Creed II DLC?

Wow, that is flipping AWESOME!!!!
On a side note, its really nice how Ubisoft is staying true to actual events of the Renaissance... I like how I will be able to use AC 2 as a study guide for my next history test LOL.

This DLC is getting out of hand. It was made to upgrade games that are older not a month old. When you see stuff like this coming out you know it was finished already they just decided to not put it in and to charge you another 10 dollars on top of what you already spent. And the sheep just keep buying into it. Now that the machine of micro transactions is in place and rolling it will never stop. This coming from the guy that bought his avatar a halloween outfit. What a sucker I am.

Battle of Forli seems like you will play a part in ending the conflict, and possibly starting it by killing that Lord Pino guy.
Bonfire of the Vanities sounds very interesting, it could be some kind of revolt against the wealthier people in the society and Ezio has to either help or kill some of the rioters. Or it could be a revolt against Ezio and his accomplices, since he owns a sweet villa in AC2.

great! But what about the \"EXCLUSIVE\" maps like the santa maria del whatever, The palazzo medici and the other one. I heard that they will eventually be released. Any word on that?

I'm think they are going to incorporate Caterina Sforza as a big part of the Battle of Flori DLC somehow, b/c Ezio's run in with her felt somewhat unresolved

dlc for ac2... freakin love it.... and plz have more after those lol love this game and story
shortman19032
I'm thinking the Battle of Flori DLC will be based heavily around Caterina Sforza or at least involve her in a major way, b/c Ezio's run in with her felt somewhat unresolved.

I hate it when DLC is planned before release as this set was. I don't want to see DLC for a long time after the release, if there has to be any at all.

Foe every one pissed about it coming so soon shut up. I like it coming sooner then later because most games no matter how good they are I don't play for huge lengths of time like 5 and 6 months(other than the call of duties, rock band, and fallout 3) I get agrevated when i beat a game and keep it for a bit but then return it to save money on the next game i buy and 7 months later sweet DLC comes out for that game. I'm not buying the game again.

And if u beat the game in 4 days u have nothing else to do and should go out and see the sunlight cause its a pretty long game. U must have done nothing but missions and no exploring.

very excited especialley for the first one hopefully we will see more than two and it may take up a few years of ezios life like he poisins the guy then ends the conflict later
Darkflame123
wat about PC?
chocosquirrel
Swweeeet. I cant wait. I was actually a little sad when I finished the game. January gives me just enough time to finish a couple other games then get back assassinating!
BTW, did anyone see Ninja Assassin? AC3 should totally be about that guy!
Zack_Nero
I think that it'll be better, yea, now I just need a job inorder to pay for all this stuff.
