Yesterday, some screenshots were apparently posted on Sony's PlayStation site that showed a Facebook logo within the PS3's Xmedia bar. The leaked images have since been pulled (of course) but they indicated the ability to manage your Facebook in your PlayStation Network account settings, change the color of your PlayStation Network gamercard and view photos in new ways.
Eurogamer's "inside source" confirmed that Facebook integration is on the way for the PS3, and the official Sony Public Relations response is that there will be more information on this "very shortly." So it's looking very, very likely that you'll be able to enjoy live updates on your friends Farmville status on your PlayStation 3 very soon. But do you actually care?
Personally, I'm not feeling it. With Facebook integration looking like a done-deal for the PS3 and already confirmed for the 360, I find myself saying "meh." It will be some other thing on my dashboard that I look at once, and never check again. But I'm kind of a misanthrope who prefers to generally be left alone. (Except on twitter! Follow my twitter feed here!).
What about you?

What other ideas will PSN steal from LIVE?
At least I can play MW2 online!
Ieyke
Steal? Psssh. PS3 has the INTERNET. We've had everything XBL is getting for ages.
I myself could care less. We've always had it available. Never bothered with it before because my PC does it better, and I don't see that changing....

If Sony hopes to continue adding new features like this to the PS3 they should really think about either scrapping the XMB or making the new features separate applications like Home or Life With Playstaiton that you launch from the XMB..
If you have ever used PlayOn on the PS3 you will know that content heavy sites with lots of different content tucked under lots of different sections can quickly become a pain to navigate. At from the picture it looks like it's doing just that.

@ leyke
Oh sorry, I forgot. There's nothing worth playing on the PS3 so you may as well use your system to slowly navigate the interwebs.
Gamelife1
This is someonwhat pointless, because you can already access facebook through the internet browser. So, unless it brings some sort of intergation where you can merge you PSN friends with your facebook friends I see no need for it. Of course, you can't ever complain about new free features. I'm sure it will come in handy a couple of times even if not much.

Ya... there is absolutely nothing to play on the PS3.....
-Killzone 2 that game sucked
-Metal Gear Solid 4... that game sucked
-Little Big Planet That game sucked
-Uncharted 1 & 2 those games sucked God of War 3 that game is going to suck
-The Agent (Rockstar games) that game will obviously suck..
I AM OBVIOUSLY BEING SARCASTIC.....
smarter your an idiot fanboy go away.....

@SmarterThanYou
I'm an Xbox fanboy and that has to be one of the dumbest statements I have heard in a long time. Both systems have good games and have positive and negative things about them that you can argue both ways. The one thing the PS3 doesnt have is a shortage of good games that are out and are comming out compared to the Xbox so shut ur face hole

I've been able to check my facebook on ps3 for years...
gamermoney
if I get a trophy for it then maybe i'll sign up to facebook finally lol
thISmurderous
too busy playing games; no time to make a facebook account.
Wozman23
I rarely check facebook on the computer, unless they send me an email because someone is bothering me. When the site was just college students it was great. Then they allowed everyone on, added all those dumb apps, and changed the interface. The site was overflowed with useless garbage and I stopped caring.

Wow facebook we all know thats what everybody on the ps3 was asking for. How about sony works on stuff people actually want added to the xmb. what about cross-chat, customizable soundtracks, better profile options and a way to take those ugly gray boxes off my friends list. But instead the next update will probably be facebook and maybe twitter if we are lucky. oh sony you always know just what your fans want, more ways to check their facebook account.
Tman88
Facebook is already accessible on the PS3 through the web browser.

I think all the Cheetos are seeping into your brain. I recall a lot of hype about the games you mentioned but none of them had any staying power. You get maybe a weeks worth of play, then back to being bored, twiddling your thumbs while your P$3 makes sad attempts to login to an online match of MW2.

Wait someone would actually bother to use a ps3?
I use mine to prop my door open.....
ps3 knows the only way it will compete with xbox is if it takes the same things as xbox. The only thing it has going for it is the free online, so anything that will benefit the free online and attract customers from xbox is what they are trying.
Not gonna bother mentioning games because we all know who has the better games.....
But id rather pay for XBL then play on that piece of $#!% PSN
Have fun waiting for MW2 to start.
RRODisBack
Let me get this straight. I can use Facebook on my PC, PS3, and phone for free but if I wanted to use Facebook on the Xbox I have to play $50 a year? No Thanks. That's just like M$ to charge for free stuff.
SkullOne360
Figured this would happen. Facebook, twitter, MySpace have always been there from the start of the PS3PS3. The sites are more popular now, so this to me is just better integration to the XMB.
TheSiwentKiwwah
@RROD Yes. You are correct. Buuuutt... You can actually do more things than just Facebook on Xbox Live--I've so far not met anyone that's said "hell yeah! Facebook! I'm gonna sign up for gold!" but I will let you know if I do. M"$" did not begin charging for Xbox Live when they updated their firmware for Facebook. No one said "oohh Facebook, lets start charging!". In fact, it's frowned upon to charge/profit from another corporations service. When Xbox drops all other services other than Facebook, and still charges, then you'll have a valid argument, till then, stfu.
