Xbox Wireless Adapter

Microsoft has a gift for you... if you consider consumer products gifts, I guess. Anyway, it's an Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter that should be on sale now. It's only $99.99, so it's a bargain...

...wait, it's a hundred bucks? Can't you get a whole 360 for like $199 these days? What the --

Anyway, it uses the 802.11n wireless protocol which Microsoft swears allows "two times the range and a speed seven times faster" than the company's previous wireless adapter. You'll be able to "Easily stream all of your Xbox LIVE entertainment such as Games on Demand, HD movies and TV shows and music through Xbox LIVE or your media center PC" with this thing, and there are no wires.

But still, a hundred dollars? I could buy at least three cheeseburgers with that kind of money.

How does this compare to my Ethernet cable that's plugged into the wall behind my console?

I keep my hooked up with a wired connection. Less connection issues, and much faster.

This is my biggest problem with M$/xbox. The peripheral costs are outrageous and wifi should be built in - period. My house is wired throughout so we don't use wireless (except for my and visiting notebooks), but if i had to use wireless i would be miffed at the extra cost ( i have 2 360's and that would be an extra $200 - jeeze). Come on Micro$oft - wake up and smell the discontent.

They should let us trade our old ones in at least, but now no gaming store is going to want them. Guess I had better start saving up again...

my house is only wireless, and i dont really have that kind of money to spend on a wireless adapter, and i have tried everything to get out of buying one of those, from getting wireless thru my laptop to seeing if i can get a signal from another router....i love my xbox, but the one thing that they lose in all aspects in my opinion is their wireless

I don't understand. I just don't get it. How can the actual console go from $400 (20gb Pro) in 2005 to $300 (60gb model) in 2009, yet the F#*%&! wireless adapter has gone from $100 in 2005 to $100 in 2009?!!

It just doesn't make any sense! Is there some gold in the wireless adapter? Does it pick up police-band radio traffic? Does it come with free Xbox Gold membership for a year? Is it made in the U.S?

Instead of wasting the the money on this piece of crap you could just bridge the connections between your wireless card and wired card in your laptop and hook up to the ethernet jack. Instant wireless Xbox 360.

For $100 you could probably build yourself a warp gate allowing you to phase your ethernet cable down to wherever your router is.
    ...probably...

I'm not shelling-out another $100 for a wireless network adapter. . . I'll keep my first generation one until it simply won't work anymore. Microsoft is the KING of nickle-and-diming you to-death!!!
