saw its multiplayer mode crippled last night, right around the time a patch was released to fix an issue with trophies not unlocking properly. While it was first assumed that the patch had somehow caused multiplayer to tank, Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling revealed via Twitter that the patch had nothing to do with the outage.
"Xbox Live servers are maintained and ran by Microsoft. PSN servers are ran and maintained by 3rd party companies hired to do so," Bowling explained. He went on to say, "MP doesn't require a patch. It's a server overload not a bug in the code. They're working to have servers back up ASAP."
A few hours ago, Bowling announced that a second patch had been released, which means trophy unlocks should now be working properly in single-player and multiplayer. Bowling also said that IW is adding more servers to keep up with multiplayer demand, and that a number of those servers are starting to come online as we speak. There still might be issues for some people, but it looks like things should be up and running again smoothly soon.

it was up lastnight/ early today, but it hasn't been on since i woke up soo ive just kinda been sitting here, already beat the story which was great.
kida sucks i bought it for ps3 to avoid the hordes of 12 y.o. and d-bags, and because my xbox dosnt seem to like to have disks inside it, have to fight with it to open and to get it to go back in when it does so its not the hot setup for meh...

Multiplayer was working last night and hasn't worked at all for me today. Glad to hear they are boosting the servers and hopefully getting us all playing again. Team Deathmatch awaits!

i can't play :( right now that's what i want to be playing. i haven't even touched the single player mode yet. i enjoyed the spec ops but right now i dont have a partner so i want mp to be able play but it won't.

I didn't even buy MW2, but I cannot update my trophies on PSN. A whole slew of threads on the PS boards have people reporting the same error code (80022A07).

Since you seem to be all about sales numbers these days. VGChartz preliminary day one figures puts the sales to date (including the midnight launches) at over 7 million copies worldwide across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Around 55% of sales are on Xbox 360, 33% on PS3 and the remaining 12% on PC. Just thought you would like to know. Now off to go play some more MW 2 multiplayer on my 360. Enjoy playing the waiting game PS3 owners. ;)

Don't worry, more servers will be added ASAP. It's not like this will never be fixed like Gears 2 after 6 patches.

Come on all you PS3 guys and girls, let's see you defend your console now. Do not get me wrong I'm not knocking the system (I have one), but this is why alot of people pay $50.00 a year for XBOX Live, because they do not have as many MP problems. XBOX and PS3 owners should just learn to get along, and remember that Jesus loves you... but I'm his favorite.
