Can you guess what everyone on Feedback was talking about this week? Hint, hint: we're one week away from the highly anticipated launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However you feel about Infinity Ward's latest entry in its shooter franchise, it's shaping up to be a monumental day for games. Chances are everyone could have talked about Modern Warfare 2 for an entire show, but as it turns out, there's a bajillion other games being released right now. So, we talked about those, too.

Feedback -- Potpourri Edition »

Here's what else Adam, Abbie, Sterling and I cover on this edition of Feedback:

  • That controversial Modern Warfare 2 viral video that showed up last weekend (and has since disappeared) sparks some heated discussion...and harsh words for Infinity Ward.
  • Even Nintendo's not sure what to do with the Wii these days. We look at where the Wii's come in the past few years and some up with some easy ways Nintendo can patch things up.
  • Game of the week? How about games of the week? DJ Hero, Tekken 6 and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony -- batter up!
  • As more casuals join the ranks of our fellow gamers and achievements encourage players to venture into harder difficulty settings, a reader probes us about difficulty settings in games.

Feedback: doing a poor job of hanging signs with scotch tape since mid-2009. Sing our ballad and subscribe:

Video: iTunes | XML   |   Audio: iTunes | XML

(And yes, we are aware that Sterling's microphone is underperforming this week. Top men are on the case. Top. Men.)

Nintendo has failed me and us fans. The hell with Nintendo, good-bye to my childhood memories with Nintendo, and thank you Microsoft and Sony for keeping games the way they are, Fun and for and only for gamers.

Patrick, I've got to ask, and I'll probably feel stupid with the answer, but how do you submit a question to feedback? I must have missed when you talked about it or something, but I've been looking around the sight and can't seem to find where that is done. It's probably right in front of my face, but if you could let me know I'd appreciate it.

I can't comment on anything gta as I dont like the series. I agree with everything that was said about every other game...I especially agree about what was said on batman arkham asylum and the difficulty. You did manage to get me fired up the 1st 10 minutes about the whole infinity ward crap. Do I like activision.. no, they're a greedy bunch in my opinion. Am I still going to buy they're games? yes, I like music so I bought dj hero and I like shooters so i'll buy MW2. I support infinity ward...if activision weren't behind them i'd still buy the game. Do I think what happened with the whole joke thing was funny? Yea, I do. I think people are too sensitive about it which is quite understandable in my opinion. Adam said what he liked about gaming is that everyone did it of any race, gender, culture, sexual orientation, etc ect. Gamers know how gamers talk, gamers are gamers. In my opinion sexual orientation and all this othr crap shouldn't matter in the gaming world. If someone get's offended well then that's a personal problem wouldn't you say?

    Great discussion this week.
Loved the points brought up about MW2's lack of "good" PR and more care needed in difficulty settings.
    Look forward to next week.

Also a set time for this would be helpful to know.
(Then again, I guess people would freak if it was "late")

I didnt see this week's South Park, but did hear about it through a friend. Did it at all have anything to do with the MW2 viral controversy? I know from past episodes that the South Park creators seem to be big gamers.

Also, I dont know when Feedback was taped, but no mention of known homophobe Eminem in the MW2 launch trailer? Im starting to think the douchebags that comprise the Infinity Ward marketing team/ community management team pander to xbox live immaturity, in affect, encourage juvenile behavior on xbox live.

I believe that the word doesnt represent homosexuals. F*G doesnt necessarily make fun of gay's! It's sad to see ppl automatically assume towards what the words mean. I use the word, i dnt use it to make fun of gays....i use it because that word to me means something along the line of jackA$$!

Words change meanings all the time....this is one of them!

    @ nbabballer
It isn't the fact that you used "that" word in context of meaning something else, is the fact that your saying "that" word, which offends the people who will take it the wrong no matter what other meaning it has.

Tech Issue: Something was wrong with Sterling's mic. he sounded hollow through most of the show and it picked up an awful lot of background noise.

    Other then that, great show.

I'm not sure I'd buy a Nintendo system even if it was for the 'hardcore'. While I do own both a Gamecube and a Wii, I haven't enjoyed a Nintendo made console since the 64. Good episode.

Also: Isn't this suppose to be for Thursdays? Was there an announcement that I missed or was it just late? Maybe I'm just going crazy.

I think the main reason why Xbox Live seems to be full of jerks is just because every Xbox comes with a mic. I have an Xbox and a PS3 and having to buy a mic on the PS3 is kind of unintentional quality control. It's nice to be able to talk to your teammates on Xbox live when they all have mics but sometimes there are people that you just don't want to hear. On PS3 no one is gonna pay $30-$50 to buy a mic to bother people online.

As far as difficulty in games goes, I typically like to play games on the normal difficulty the first time through just to get through it at a good pace and keep the story moving. If I come back to play it again later I usually play on the hardest difficulty and take my time with it. Over the summer, I beat Gears of War 2 on insane mode with a friend and it took us forever but it was so fun and rewarding.

I saw an interview with Cliff Bliszenski one time and he said "Good AI isn't AI that kicks the players butt. Good AI is AI that the player is entertained by." and I totally agree with that.

An AI does make the game, not the amount of bullets you take nor having less armor. The problem is that I think video game companies maybe still think that their gaming audience is still kids which can easily accept being shot more times as hard.

Speaking of companies that still think their audience is still only children, Nintendo has no excuse for not having a better graphics quality. Yes they did come out in the generation of pre-HDTV's but let us not forget they are in Japan. They had HDTV's before we could even dream about them. Besides, graphics are only half the battle, having a good game is getting tough now with not having the adequate hardware to run it on. Until Nintendo really does decide to consider making games for a more mature audience we will have the same hardware and Nintendo will still keep spilling out the same Software. The reason, I think that they still have those Friend Codes on the Wii are because they still see that their audience is primarily children. Which makes perfect sense to why they would have those and as I said before, they have no reason to think otherwise since they know that mainly children are their audience.

as far as that F word or any derogatory word goes, i think people should just take more of a "sticks and stones" attitude about it. the fact that everyone is making such a big deal about it is what give the word its power and impact, which to me, seems to encourage its use more than deter it. if it became more commonplace without the outcry of controversy, maybe not in this generation, but in future generations, it would have the same effect of calling someone a "doodey-head" or a "stupid-face".

That was a great show. It's hard to believe that IW would make such a stupid mistake like this a week before it's launch. The thing that bugs me the most about it is that they just made this word totally acceptable for game use. Before this happened I felt that there was some what of a fight to try to stop people from using racial slurs or obscene language between gamers. IW just totally crushed that fight by using this in their advertising. Do I get offended by this word? no not really.I'm I sick of hearing it used all the time by adults and kids? yes. I just don't understand why they would do that. It's not like they even need to advertise this game. Will all this stop me from playing it? No, I'll be at gamestop for the midnight release. It's like the classic parent guilt tactic "we're not mad at you Infinity Ward, we're just disappointed."
BTW love you're hair Abbie, you look really hot.

Im a 15 year old gamer and cursing/calling people names happens all the time. Yes i know im kid but its not cool to call people that. Most of my friends end up just jumping into a party. It's unfortunate that it happens but like i said before its not cool to call someone that.
