pulled a number of punches that the original didn’t, and ended up being a mere shell of what the original was. Well, for those gamers out there who felt shortchanged by the subdued ultra-violence of the sequel, rejoice. As Big Download reports, an Adults-Only version of the game will be released for PC on Nov. 6 on Direct2Drive for $29.95. (Oh, and it also supports 3D monitors, just in case nauseating 2D kills aren't intense enough for you.)
This release actually marks a rather interesting point in the digital distribution space, since it lets Rockstar avoid the issues that releasing an AO-rated game at retail brings; namely, the fact that most retailers won’t sell AO-rated games. It also means that kids could easily download the game I contacted Rockstar to find out more about what this move might mean for future Manhunt titles, so I’ll let you know what I hear.

This will give kids MORE access to this title ironically. I think it's rediculous that retailers won't sell A-O games as this would alleviate much of the controversy surrounding sex and violence in games.

$30 .00 ?More than anything it's going to serve as a novelty , you can easily watch SAW 1-56 and get more gore in a shorter time amount

you need a credit card to buy something on-line so if you are mature enough to have a credit card then you are mature enough to buy the game.
if you pirate the game then chances are you have seen much more gratitous sex and violence on the internet anyways. so its nothing new they haven't seen

The first publicly released AO game. Too bad Manhunt 2 sucked across every platform it was on. And this will probably be worse since R* is simply awful at PC ports.
Sorry R*, but stick with you other franchise. It makes more money and is much better in terms of quality and production values. Oh, and PLEASE make a Bully 2! The first one kicked ass!

i am sure part of the reason for this game to be huge was the fact both have been banned but one you play both manhunt one and two you do have a great game. And then thing is that the avarage gamer is 25 is somthing like that so more adult games plz as i am an adult and wont to see kratos covered in blood as he guts a thing. the thing is not just the what you show it is that you show them in 1080p and on a 50 inch tv and you see every thing even the smile on the face. buty mafter all it is onlt a game as i have played manhunt one and 2 and have no reason to kill anyone as it is only a game. but it is fun.

A shame that the first AO title will be Manhunt. Had digital distribution been farther along I imagine GTA and the hot coffee kit would've been it, and a far better opener than the gore and violence of Manhunt.

There will be game released with the AO rating for once, yet people are upset with MW2's terrorist scene? Makes no sense...

At least somebody's got the balls to release an AO title. Sure it's only a director's cut, but it means that there's hope for new, original adult games. I just hope that we don't get an overflow of titles that get this rating, but have piss poor gameplay.
typhoon_2099
Manhunt relied too much on the gory kills, I never got into it, just mad me feel unpleasant.

Never understood our culture. We demonize things that many enjoy already.
Selling AO titles in stores would make more sense. There is certainly a market for it we know this, but they are worried the kids will get them? And direct download is going to make this harder for them?
Kids always want to get a hold of mature stuff. You demonize something from somebody young or old and it starts to have an appeal to it. If parents would sit down with kids and talk about these things and stores would sell these types of games in say a different section from all the other games this wouldn't be an issue at all.

Weel, I hope they make this one better than the first one on PS2. They probably need to leave this game in the past. If that screenshot is the window for things to come, this WILL be an ugly, crappy game!!
YoureSoFunny
I hope less kids get there hands on this b/c I'm tired of hearing there whining voices online in a M rated game!!!
Disco_Von_Doom
I'm torn here. The first Manhunt was awesome, but Manhunt 2 sucked something fierce. But most of Manhunt 2's suckiness came from rockstars self censorship of the game. I'm hoping this gets some good reviews.

Probably will DL this eventually...I played through it on PS2 before (PS3 BC technically) with action replay to remove filters though that stopped working. I have always wanted to play the original game, even if it is on PC and, I will admit, a mediocre title.

Kids cannot download this game from D2D because you need a credit card to pay for it. How does a 10-year-old child earn a credit rating? They could take their parents' credit card number, but that would only work once, since the bill would reveal their purchase.

@LocoCabasa
I guess the kid can just tell the parent whats not in the game but then again thats the responsabilty of the parent to be informed about what a child plays and not care only to pitch a fit 2 weeks later when she learn's of the contraversy and blames the developer for the fall of are youth.
PARENTS NEED TO TAKE RESPONSABILTY!!!
As for me......i think i might try this one. i have not played any sense the first one on ps2 :)

A Credit card limiting a child's access to this game...really. Have you ever been on the internet? This game will be open season for Torrent downloading and anyone thinking otherwise is just plain foolish.
A 10 year old has more access to inappropriate material than ever before. It is up to the parents to monitor and supervise what thier children are exposed to. I know we can't be around them 24/7, but if we raise them right, they will make the right choices when we are not around.
C'mon people...OWN UP!! and stop blaming others for your kids bad decisions!
