Electronic Arts Dismisses Dead Space 2 Report As

Dead Space: Extraction might not have been the out-of-the-gate success Electronic Arts was hoping for (and it's a good game, too!), but elsewhere, Dead Space was a critical and commercial success. Gamers (myself included) have demanded Dead Space 2 and several leaks have reinforced suspicions, while EA looks in the other direction. A Reuters report this morning stated Dead Space 2 was in development for a 2010 release rather matter of factly, but EA's staying quiet.

"This comment by the Reuters reporter is speculative," said an EA spokesperson in an e-mailed statement. "The article refers to Dead Space Extraction and refers to last year’s Dead Space as a hit last fall on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. There is no announcement for a Dead Space sequel (or in this case, prequel) beyond Dead Space Extraction."

Of course, EA's statement does little to refute the idea of a Dead Space 2, only saying "hey, we haven't said anything yet...so, shhh!"

Speculative? more like a must. Yeah right, like if EA has a gold mine of good games that are going to come out and dead space isn't priority.

Dead Space wasn't bad. It was a bit predictable, but all horror games are.

I don't think they should sequel it though. I mean how often does EA actually get something right? not very often, and I wouldn't put my money on them getting it right the second time.

Like 2k, you know Bioshock 2 will be a letdown, and when it is we will wish they had never made a sequel. The same thing would happen with Dead Space.

I believe there should b a sequel to Dead Space because the game was amazing! and WHO SAID BIOSHOCK 2 IS GONNA B A LETDOWN!!!! IT IS GONNA BE THE BEST GAME OF 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dead Space 2 is much further into development than one might think. I've done a playtest for it.

why be hush hush for a game? I can understand a redesigned console or a price drop to be hush hush (they don't want people holding off their purchases in anticipation)

dead space 2 is getting made as EA wont money and they will get it after resident evil 5 was as scary as the care bear. and as ThUnDeRsToRm ses coop and multieplayer would be sweet like uncharted 2 did with there great coop.

Wait hough in September a person from EA said that a Dead Space 2 was in Pre-Production and that it would be finished in 2010 and released in 2010.
