We've been kind of quiet about the whole Modern Warfare 2 dedicated server situation, which is pretty much a debacle now, and is about two steps away from a full-on fiasco. But I was pleased to see your reactions to the story Stephen posted yesterday. I don't game as much on the PC these days as I'd like to (mostly because of available time and paranoia that my HDD is failing), but I learned my shooty-shoot games on the PC back in high school and college, which means I'm well aware of the importance of dedicated servers. Is Infinity Ward making reasonable arguments defending their decision? Eh...maybe. (But not really.) Are a certain sub-section of PC gamers overreacting before seeing what IW.NET brings to the table? Perhaps. But is the way that IW is treating their PC community at-large not just disappointing, but incredibly disrespectful of their collective experience and intelligence? Absolutely. Dedicated servers should always be an option.

Yup, most likely not gettin a copy unless this is changed. Specially if they are gonna rip us off with the 60$ price tag of the consoles.

Infinity Ward will make so much money off the consoles that they don't see the point in doing extra work for dedicated servers.

PS3 exclusives have dedicated servers and they're much better than matchmaking so I know how the PC guys feel. On a side note, why does other shooters get criticized for being generic and not having co-op but MW2 fits that bill as well but gets a free pass?

this is the brazillianth time i havent been able to post something due to non-existent profanity. and no, theres not even a word you can make by combining words.

when posting becomes a battle with the censor filter, i stop posting.

its getting ridiculous. as is activision.

I think the complaints by PC gamers are completely valid, and IW's decision is mind-bogglingly stupid. We already KNOW what IW.net brings to the table--an experience identical to consoles, which is vastly inferior to what is available on PC. You can't take a piece of crap, wrap it in tinfoil and call it a present.

Thanx Andrew for posting about this. I dont however think there is a big over reaction to these changes. If you think about it the game is released in 20 DAYS!!! (maybe 19 now i dont care anymore). Especially after the shacknews interverview Robert Bowling had in september where he said Nothing will change for PC gamers and also Lan support will be there. These are big changes and no lan support so any reaction from the PC community cannot be an over reaction we just got blind sided because they told us nothing and when they did it was lies.

You people should just curl up in the fetal postion and cry. You know your going to buy the game, at least the standard,sometime or another. I don't know why people have to mod and stuff like that and I'm not a technical geek, but I know that Infinity Ward has worked hard to bring you a great game and change has to come somewhere. I am pretty sure they will appease the expectations of you PC gamers, you just have to give it time. I think that purchasing the game will be money well spent. I believe they will add deticated server support for you PC gamers in the near future after launch.

I understand the PC gamers issue with what IW has done but man up and get over it. I really dont need to hear this endless supply of complaining and whinning about something with a pretty basic solution, either buy it or dont. A perfect example is that Activision ruined GH but I didn't complain I simply stopped buying the games, simple solution.

MW2 is over rated, the hype surrounding this game is pathetic. I wont buy this game because it is a over hyped piece of crap. However, I do find it humorous how people are throwing such a fit over this dedicated server thing. It goes hand in hand with what I have been saying the entire time, MW is a crap campaign, with average multiplayer at best. I just find it funny how people throw fits over the online. MW is like Halo, with out its online component it is nothing.
