Welcome to Morning Hangover -- an excellent way to start your day with the crew at TheFeed...no matter what you're recovering from. Every morning you'll hear musings from our editors and have the chance to share your thoughts on what's going on in the gaming world.

Patrick Klepek: I saw Where The Wild Things Are tonight. Depending on what your childhood was like, Where The WIld Things Are will affect you in different ways. It reminded me of what it was like to become the person I am today. It reminded me of my awkward phases, the times I didn't feel accepted, the times I wondered "why doesn't anyone else get it?" And, as you understand what that really means, you learn from it. I can't think of a video game that's ever tapped into my emotions how Where The Wild Things Are did. There's even a game based on the movie, but like you might expect, it's your standard action adventure platformer thing. But I wonder if people event want these emotions from games. Are emotionally charged games going to be like motion games? "Dude, I just want to play a game."

I watched Trick r' Treat last night, it's a perfect Halloween movie if you want something refreshing, it's like Crash but a horror/ fantasy and the creepy little guy at the end is worth it alone. It's too bad it didn't make it out into theaters last Halloween like it was supposed to.
I'm renting Drag me to Hell for this weekend.

I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't understand what you'd feel. But I remember playing FFIII (FFVI) back in the day for the SNES and to me that was an extremely emotional game. A well crafted story (one of the best ever IMO) kept me coming back for more, to the point where'd I'd run home from school to play it. And it's a game I can still go back to time and time again which brings back a ton of nostalgia.

I guess you are getting the silent treatment today Patrick. Let's get some Halloween topics rolling next week , games, movies, whatever.

Isnt the new Wii attachment announced at E3 '09 supposed to be about emotion//feeling?

I know what you mean patrick, how you felt is exactly how I felt, I think my twitter post about it sums it up greatly, there were parts I loved about it then there were parts I felt like that were over my head or I couldnt identify with which sucked because I loved the book.
the only game of recent to really have an emotional connection with me is fable II, I love that game, its weird too because I would have never played a game like it before and prolly wont touch another like it until the third one is released

the only 2 games Ive ever had an emotional connection with were final fantasy 7( nuff said about that) and shenmue... I think that game was so monumental because I kinda felt the world of ryo hazuki. at times I thought he was a bit too dense imo. but as strange as it sounds the world of 1985 japan was very very involving

Damn, muted response this morning. Uh, PlayStation 3 sux!

Rygar (Arcade and NES)
There's something in the music and level designs
that makes me wish reality was not so real....if that makes sense.

It's ok Patrick. Just do another post telling people to bitch about Gamestop. That'll get some responses.

But for the record, Where The Wild Things Are was really, really fantastic. It's not for kids. It's an adult adaptation made for people who read the book and grew up.

While I agree with HaroldPalahniuk assertion of Fable 2 (especially towards the end, double so since I named the dog after my own), I say the first game that ever got a response out of me was Half-Life 2, the the masterful way Valve handed Gordon and Alyx's relationship.

The ending of MGS4 almost had me teary-eyed. Its nice when a game can deliver on an emotional level. It just makes you that much more connected. Thats why survival horror (when done correctly) works so well. You connect with the game through your fear and when you finish a big fight or make it through some scary scenario, you not only feel like you got your character through, but you got yourself through as well.

For me it was The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Hell If I still hear any of the ocarina songs I start to get very emotional. The movie was great too, midnight release and man was it worth it.

"Patrick goes where the wild things are" yeah, and he should stay there.

Would it make "Dexter" feel anything?
