Disney buying Marvel is one of the most enormous deals in nerd history. It's just huge! With repercussions in games, movies, television, cartoons, comics, cereal, Underoos , and more, this deal touches practically every facet of geek culture. Brian Reed: All joking aside, the whole Disney/Marvel thing is pretty crazy exciting.
Like I said before, the deal is enormous. I can't wait to find out what other comic-book writers and artists are thinking. Check back for another update later today! And also, excelsior!!! And also (also), Disney should let Wolverine and Quasar appear in Kingdom Hearts 3!

Terrible move, as long as they stay their SEPERATE ways on matters then it will be fine. But from a PR standpoint... the comic ppl will switch to DC comics. Trust me.

This makes me very nervous about the future of Marvel movies. I mean Wolverine:Origins was pretty craptacular and Marvel screwed that up on their own. Lord only knows how "The Mouse" will effect future projects.
From a money and support standpoint, it's great for Marvel. They will have a ton of new resources and opportunities they may not have been able to do on their own previously.
However, if Disney is smart (and they are) they should know to not F with anything. Just let Marvel do what they do and collect the checks.
Does anyone know how long this deal had been in the making?

This is a weird merger indeed. Im more of a DC buff, so i really don't care about Marvel at all. The only characters ive ever liked from there were Captain America & Punisher.
Im more intrigued as to what will happen to Universal's Islands of Adventure. Will they have to remove their Marvel Super Hero Island since they are not part of Disney or will they keep it and have to now pay royalties to their main competitor, which is Disney. This is bizarre indeed.

As a comic store owner this is going to suck. I have loved Marvel for years with the exception of selling digital comics. They say Disney won't change things.....WHO IS GULLIBLE ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THAT?!?!? It will start out all innocent... a minor tweak here, Disney billboards in the background of the comics there, then the next thing you know Namor is fighting Ursala over the little mermaid!! This makes me realize that this deal has been in the works for a longtime. Why else would Disney have started showing the old Marvel cartoons? Between Disney and the government they will own everything in next few years! Jack Kirby would be disgraced at what is happening, and I'm willing to bet that Stan Lee is having trouble with this as well wether he will admit it or not.
