If you play an MMO, you're probably in a guild. And if you're in a guild, you've probably traveled somewhere to meet up with your fellow gamers in person.
Well last weekend The Syndicate, one of the world's largest and most successful guilds, had their annual conference in Austin, Texas, and Casey Schreiner was invited. He got the chance to spend some time with the guild members, talk about their passion for MMOs, and even had a couple sit down interviews with some very special guests; including Red Sox pitcher and founder of 38 Studios Curt Schilling, and Lord British himself, Richard Garriott.
So take a seat, press play, and see if you think you have what it takes to be a member of the most influential guild in the gaming industry. Long live The Syndicate!

Wait, your the "MMO Guy" and you actually thought COD4 is a MMO!!!???
stat120
@TK229 I think it was a joke... perhaps?
...and that's sweet, I'd never heard of this "Syndicate" before this MMO Report. They're lucky, They get to stare at, or possibly even play with those shiny Alienware's...

couple things i gotta say. first: casey needs a nose job cuz it drives me crazy staring at his crooked &^% nose. second: im pretty sure he was just joking if he knew what COD4 was without someone telling him what game it was and third: (lol) at 1:00min did anyone else notice thats its mostly fat people in the room lol. i dont know many fat gamers so i find it funny when i see a bunch of fat people at game conventions and other places cuz i know that they have no life and sit in a computer chair for 16hours a day
Kratier
look at those fat pathetic losers they showed from syndicate , they tried so much to film the one black guy out of the entire group of people.
Schilling gives it a good look but he's just there to get money.
Those MMO guilds take themselves too seriously, and they end up playing some casual MMO like WOW
Zack_Nero
How could that be a MMO Conference, without any Internet to go Online. One would that that gamers knows how to wait in and to take their time when playing a game. And busting a fuse 15 times in one day, their all idoits.
imik0
well technically it is a massively multiplayer online game so it does qualify as an MMO, not an MMORPG but still an MMO game

This is very epic. My guild is mostly buddies from college but we will never be so successful that Curt Schilling or Richard Garriott come talk to us or for Alienware to give us computers. The Syndicate is doing something right to make all that stuff happen.

uhmmmmlol ok
i dont want to be rude BUT WoW. nerds lol

hmmmmmmmm... I never knew WoW was a casual MMO. You should try telling that to some of my friends and Koreans. I bet they'd have to disagree but probably wouldn't have the time to tell you that. (>-_-)> <(-_-)> <(-_-<) At least Kirby can dance.

he was joking about the cod thing, most people in the US are overweight and you live in the inbred secluded hole of the US if u have never seen a fat person before.
Inkred87
Thats very cool that some people are dedicated to there guild like that, but my god grow a sense of humor people or at lest don't make it occur awkward!!! Casey was so funny or at lest I think he was being sarcastic, its hard to tell sometimes, and GO GO richard garriott!

With 600+ members, The Syndicate contains many types of people of all shapes, sizes, race, and lifestyle. Out of those 600+, only 140 came to this year's conference; and out of those 140 only about 30 or so different people are on the video (the people who happened to be downstairs in one of our suites or out in the lobby). To judge us all based on your shallow perceptions from a 9 min video demonstrates your own nature.
The majority of us live full lives with families and jobs and only casually play one of the several games that our guild is active in. As a "guild" we strive to accent this balance of real life first - including the importance we put on knowing your guildies as real life people rather than just their character. Our annual meeting is meant to facilitate this as well as allow a few tech/gaming opportunities and insight for those interested.
We, The Syndicate, are about accepting and building friendships with people based on who they are. We do not judge by appearance or lifestyle, but rather by a person's desire and ability to be a longterm friend and accept others as we accept them. That is why we have endured 12 years and will endure many more: LLTS!

@Squezzle - Being in a very large guild myself I understand what your saying. However I had tried to gather info about your guild but your site is very cryptic. Not to mention you only publicly show yourselves being active in 2 games. Limiting those who would be a great fit with you.
@GalacanoochLLTS - Not a very Inviting attitude. For a guild who is adament about promoting friendships and not judging, you just gave yourself (and the Guild you represented) a very Childish appearance to everyone here...

I think Casey blushed at the end of that interview with Mr Garriot.
