Chris Hardwick and Sara Jean Underwood take a look at the ultimate summer item, the DXG U579V Underwater Pack with a water and weather proof camera for both 8 megapixel photographs and video.
Check out the full review from Attack of the Show after the cut.
What You Need To Know
- The DXG Underwater Camera isn't as sleek and skinny like the Flip camcorder, but it's still thing enough to fit in your pocket at 1.5" thick.
- It weights next to nothing!
- The controls are easy to use, but it feels kind of cheap and plastic-y.
- The case works well with the camcorder. Just pop open the case, power on the camera and you're good to go.
- You can't access the menu or turn the camera off when it's in the case, so bring extra batteries if you plan to film a lot underwater.
- The case also floats.
- The vide looks better than we expected, with outdoor and normal light footage looking detailed and vibrant.
- The colors are accurate but there's no image stabilization.
- Low light footage isn't the best, but night mode helps make it less grainy.
Price
- $130.00 and worth every penny. The camcorder alone is good but you should spend the extra $20-30 for the underwater case.
Rating
- 4 Seals of Approval out of 5.(How do we rate gadgets?)
- The camcorder is the perfect gadget for summer: affordable, good quality and easily made waterproof.
