New DLC Queued Up For Halo Wars - New Maps, Achievements

Halo Wars

More downloadable content is headed to Halo Wars on July 21st in the "Historic Battles" pack. The pack will run you a cool 800 MS Points ($10!) and includes four new maps and four new achievements. The four maps, which all sound like zones in World of WarCraft, are as follows:

Barrens (1v1 Map): Difficult terrain channels units into killing zones. The side that controls the Forerunner artifacts will have the advantage.
Blood River (1v1 Map): Secure base locations on nearby cliffs overlook this naturally red-tinged river. The soldiers that fought over its two narrow crossings gave the river its name, which has since taken on a greater meaning.
Glacial Ravine (3v3 Map): A snow-topped mountain range forms a natural barrier that cuts this region in half. Control of the two energy walls at the narrow central pass often determines the outcome of the battle, though clever use of the Sentinel Factories may play a role as well.
Memorial Basin (2v2 Map): The high ground in the middle offers good cover for infantry, while the generally open terrain transforms organized battle plans into bloodbaths.

As for the achievements, you're shiny $10 bill makes you eligible for 100 new points with:

Tour Coming Through: Hot drop 50 squads to your Covenant Leader in a single game on Memorial Basin (30 points)
Never Leave a Man Behind: Finish a game with 5000 net resources contributed to your teammates on Barrens (15 points)
Drain Cleaner: Kill 20 enemy squads with a continuous Covenant Leader Power on Memorial Basin (30 points)
Killjoy: Disrupt 5 active Leader Powers in a single game on Blood River (25 points)

Going to pick this one up? I think I'll pass. Halo Wars was just too console-ized for my RTS tastes. Just bring me the damn StarCraft II beta already!

i liked halo wars a bunch but im going to pass on this like i did for the first round of dlc. ill wait til its free.

Like I say every time, I'm absolutely hooked on Halo Wars. I've never really given RTS games a chance but this is really fun and I've been blowing off Killzone 2, Infamous, COD and Halo 3 for a while now cuz I'm hooked.

I rented Prototype today though so I'm taking a break.

while its nice to see new maps, I want new heroes to expand the gameplay. I played it for a while but it got boring just banshee rushing while trying to not be banshee rushed yourself.

banshee rushes are so easy to stop.... warthogs eat them up and once u get wolverines forget baout it... not to mention turrets kill them too.... now that the warthog rush has been fixed this game is so balanced and awesome. every gimick has a counter. as long as your smart and quick to react u can get very good at this game.

if ur covie u can stop the quick banshee rush with grunts and turrets and leader power.... then take out their summit cuz it takes forever to build back

I'll get it for sure. I totally passed on the last expansion, especially since it was just new game modes. Really? 800 pts for game modes? I'm just happy they're finally putting in new maps.

To many people underestimate the power of cobras. Banshee rushes are easy to stop with turrets and wolverines but i love cobras. I love watching sergents forges grizzlies be crushed by a group of 6 cobras and pelicon drop them next to a reactor base. I just wish I could see the look on their face.

I love using Grizzlies each backed up with a Med Mech or two, a variety of air cover for counter and once you eat up the ground forces those Mechs are hilarrious to watch beat down bases.

Why does it have to be 800 points?

I'll pass for now, wait till they make it 400 points (I'd by these maps and Strategic Options at 400). Or maybe if I win some points in 1v100 this weekend.

ODST's and Wolverines will rock you. Take that with the proper use of a maxed out MAC Blast, you can take out just about anything. Just keep them ODST's comin, and the Wolverines with Volley just destroy bases like crazy.
Sure, ODST's get annoying after a while, what with the way they just won't stop comin and coming, but that's kind of the point.

i hate the way morgan speaks I mean she speaks way too fast and she jokes around when she's talking about any game and the other guys have that same problem. I was watching today's show about the 5 top superhero games and the guy talking about the game lied twice about features in some of the games. I wish kevin and olvia can also talk about games like on x play or they could have them as host. Honestly I'm tired of adam and morgan

I dont kno, im a huge RTS fan, there really isnt any that i dont have, thats how much of a fan i am. they are great games and for the most part they have a better story and for the money, you can make some RTS last hours, instead of a 10hrs FPS (which i still like them) but Halo Wars, i played it, got myself to mission 5 and just stop playing all together, nothin against it, it just didnt drive me to keep playin, for that, $10 for DLC and achievement, heck i wont pay not even a $1 for achievements, i think they should be free
