Above is a reportedly official PSP promotional image from Sony Europe.
I don't condone playing with video games in the tub, but, yeah, I play games in the bathroom, but not in the bath. More like on the throne, baby. But I guess that isn't as visually appealing in promotional image form...
Part of me thinks: "What the heck is Sony doing here?" but the other part of me realizes that if this was a hot chick playing a PSP in the tub, I wouldn't be complaining, and there are lots of girl gamers out there, not to mention gay gamers. Plus, it's European, and they do things a little differently over there. What do you think? Is this kind of promotional image acceptable? Or should Sony tone it down a bit?
No matter how you feel about Bathtub-PSP-Dude, there is no excuse for the messed up Photoshopping on the side of that dude's head, though -- it looks like he has a divot taken out of his skull!

almost sony just take the guy and replace him with megan fox and you'll sell like hot cakes

Great AD. It will be Darwinism at its best. As soon as his batteries get low he'll plug in the A/C adapter, and bye bye. Like that girl who's battery got low while she was twittering in the tub and she was electrocuted.
SkinnyJr
agreed. if it were a hot chick, there would be no problems. This ad is fine.

Is there supposed to be sex appeal? Aren't guys just supposed to imagine they are this guy, in the tub, playing PSP?
deathnotejoe
hmm, for European folks i can see this bein an ok ad but not here in america(unless it was a supa fine chick) and epic fail on the sonys photoshop

I found this very appalling... but then the good ol curiosity struck me... do women feel exactly as I do to the same toward the ads that sex appeal to the men? hmmm o_O

Imagine if they smelled like hot cakes!

Why the outrage, fellas? This is nothing compared to Sony Europe's worst ads.
"Ten Years of Passion?"
"Penis Thumb?"
Any of those ring a bell?
If not:

I've personally lived in Europe longer than America (Military brat) and I can tell you that this isn't wrong overseas. They have nude ad's all over Europe, so this is a toned down version.

On another note why doesn't Sony just show MGS4 and say "Buy our system to play this awesome game" Or just "Buy our console" ads. That's what MS does, and it isn't hurting them.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the ad. The problem with it to me is who does Sony really think they are advertising to in this ad? This ad just looks like a waste of money like most of the ad's Sony puts out. Seriously I just dont get it and how it is supposed to sell PSP's but I guess im not the market crowd anymore.
ZombiekingX
It's creepy.

Problem with this ad ISN'T that it's a bad one. In fact this isn't even the whole ad, I'm sure. It'll prolly be in a two page ad spread with something witty on the side. I can relate to this pic. My favorite place to play Final Fantasy Tactics or Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max is in the tub. Maybe Sony did some kinda study and found discovered that a surprising number of PSP players play in the scrubber.
Problem IS...why are we being asked to judge this pic?

Just seeing this image of sony about the psp makes me feel like i dont want to own a Psp. . . . . and get a hot girl in the hottub!

@ sterling Mcgarvy
epic fail on the link

@Arguello
Why epic fail on the link??? It takes you right to the article Sterling McGarvey mentioned.

I fail to understand how this is enough of an issue anywhere for it to warrant discussion.
