Gamers love to point out that gaming is no longer strictly a nerd-thing. People from all walks of life, religious groups and levels of geeky-ness now enjoy video games. But on the downside, that means game companies make games for these different demographics. You got your soccer-mom fitness games, your old-people brain-training games, and now, some games specifically for the awkward chicks who make up the chorus in the school play. I'm talking, of course, about upcoming Wii and DS games based on the movie/play Grease.
Paramount, the rights holder to Grease, will work with 505 Games to adapt the 1978 John Travolta vehicle into a party game for casual and family gamers.
Paramount says Grease will "take full advantage of Nintendo Wii's motion-sensing controls and microphone and the DS's touch screen." Wait, the Wii has a microphone? News to me! In any case, expect your little sister to monopolize the TV with out-of-tune karaoke versions of "Summer Loving" when this come out. No release date has been announced.

As we continue to make crappier games, generally on the Wii, why not? *sigh* Really sucks that games are looking even more like the "quick cash" solution.

It will sell like hot cakes, regardless of quality. While (as reported) no release date has been announced, I'm sure they will do whatever it takes to get it on the store shelves by Holiday '09.

Looks like someone wants Grease to be popular again. Why must they do this to my childhood? Ruin the movies I grew up with by making them into games...

what, no Grease Theft Auto?! i wanna play as Danny and go to Rydel High and build Grease Lightning and drive around in with the rest of the T-Birds, go pick up the Pink Ladies, and take them to the dance! lame

Glad I am selling my Wii for a video card upgrade, I actually was on the fence, this just pushed me over.I'll stick with my two PS3s.

As a gamer, a big Theater dork, and the President of the Drama club at my high school, I feel qualified to give this opinion: I think this is a HORRIBLE idea.
