By now, most of you have heard about the Left 4 Dead 2 internet petition claiming that the sequel should be released free to owners of the first game, fulfilling Valve's promise to support Left 4 Dead with free DLC. I completely agree with you on this one. The sense of entitlement that gamers get when a sequal comes out is off the charts. Left 4 Dead 2 is going to be a completely different game with a different feel to it. While, I feel that valve should have done a bit more for us console owners, I'm not going to cry about having to pay full price for left 4 dead 2. I'm gonna go to the store, pick it up, and play it to death like I do the orginal because it's a great product!

Yep...I'm special...my mommy tells me so...as such I can make demands as I please...not only does valve need to give this awesome game out for free...they also have to make it for PS3 so I can actually play online cause Im cheap..also needs to include pie..

it's not a sense of entitlement whatsoever (well, to me it isn't) im not a angry fanboy but a angry CONSUMER. I bought the game not too long ago and yes i love the game, but it feels unfinished, like they could do a lot more with this. i know, they say that they arn't going to abandon l4d but in past experiences with certain games developers say the same thing, do a cop out update, and then abandon it. i dunno ill give them the benifeit of the doubt, but if i had known they were going to release a new one a a year after the first one came out i would have saved my money

Valve is good at PC only so they should stop being show offs and trying to make profits, and make Left 4 dead 2 free. They should also call it left 4 dead Louisiana if they're bitching about it.

The closest valve came to screwing over gamers was with ps3 owners, but whatever. there was a patch for orange box and it works great now (although my personal testimony might be one of few. Don't know what other people experienced after the patch). Now, what I think we should be focusing on is that Valve is bringing out a sequel to a really popular game only a year after its first inception. Now let that sink in.... When has valve EVER done that? I say we congratulate and shake their hands and do everything we can to get the point across that what they have done is an excellent idea because when it all comes down to it, I WANT MORE HALF-LIFE and I don't want to have to wait until I'm half DEAD to play more of it. Whew. In with the good air, out with the jive.

I have to say that i was mad at Valve for this game. I wasn't mad at the fact that there is a new Left 4 Dead, I was mad that I invested in the first game and only got from Valve, ONE DLC albeit free. I love that Valve has released this game I just wish that they did it after they expanded and offered more from the first game. I just hope they drop support for the first game all together.

I'm on the fence here.
Firstly I do agree with the fact that gamers but fans in general find themselves so important that they think that justifies acting outlandishly and like children. But at the same time I understand why they can think this way, Valve is a company that is pretty much known for their dedication to one game before making a sequel. Then they pull Left 4 dead2 out of their ass, and I admit I went: WTF is this? But if you take time out of your "busy" schedules to look at some gameplay features this looks amazing!
So bottom line it may not be the best choice but complaining just annoys everyone

So they are wrong for taking too long to release a new Half-Life game and wrong for releasing a new Left 4 Dead too soon? How does Valve win?
I personally love the first game and can't wait for the second. If you don't want to buy it, don't. Quit crying. It's not like we are talking about EA or Activision here. Then I could see your argument for minor upgrade to each game, but Left 4 Dead 2 looks like a major leap forward as far as content is concern.

The point was totally missed here, and as usual thats to be expected from G4.
This was supposed to be partly DLC for LFT1, now they decided to release it as a standalone game after not even finishing anything that was promised for the original game.
Granted they promised to continue support for the original LFT but I dont see that coming, the online modes were flawed and never fixed and they have already moved onto another game.
Valve needs to get their priorities straight before their fanbase plummets, as it is they only have two platforms supporting them since their haphazard programmers cant handle PS3 (Not that they handle 360 all that well either), yet again more fanboys cant see things for what they are and only care about instant self gratification.

You're the reason why people are bitching about this game. You're blind love of everything Valve is amazing, honestly. It's not that they're taking too long with a new Half-Life, it's that it's not a new Half-Life. For that game to take as long as it is, it should just be Half-Life 3. Left 4 Dead was half of a game. It was absolutely the smallest amount of content I've ever seen for $60 and, the fact that they're pumping out a sequel already just shows that they could have included more material in the first game but, in classic Valve form they're cheating you out of every possible dollar.

So it was "partly" dlc? Which part? Maybe instead of gimping the DLC or new entry they just combined to make it great..thereby thinking of the consumer. Valve made tons of money just on PC and their profit margin is outstanding with STEAM. No need to have the PS3 to put food on the table. If development on the machine costs them too much then it isn't a good idea. I'm sure you make similar decisions every month. If you take care of yourself anyway.

Hit the nail on the head Sess. This is a business, and the amazing success Left 4 Dead had left us..well begging for more.
I have YET to be disappointed by a Valve game, and this will be another game I will be waiting to get.
