There's multiplayer modesin Ghostbusters on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it's conspicuously missing from the PC version. In a surprising turn, Atari and multiplayer developer Threewave Software actually explained the reason multiplayer was dropped from everything but the console versions to Big Download.

"When we looked at the resources necessary to pull off multiplayer on the consoles and the PC," said Threewave CEO Dan Irish, "it became a question of what could we do and still be excellent in our execution. We couldn't do all versions with multiplayer simultaneously with the resources that we had available - there was simply too much to do. Something would have to suffer."

I don't know too many people who had the PC version on their radar, but for the folks who wanted to bust ghosts with a keyboard and mouse, this is a bummer. But hey, at least Threewave manned up and provided an explanation; usually, we don't even get that.

And an acceptable explanation, at that.

So you're telling me that the 360 which is so close to pc in terms of game dev has multi and pc doesn't? Yeah that makes alot of sense.

I just posted elsewhere why I was gonna buy it for 360. I missed that there was a PC version. I just found it for $30 on Steam, I will probably start downloading it later tonight for that price. Was anyone really expecting to spend much time, if any, on multiplayer anyway? Besides maybe a co-op or minigames for families with the Wii, I don't see why they put any time towards multiplayer in the first place.

like i've always asked. why is it that every game released now has to include multiplayer when its not necessary? i thought i'd dig ghostbusters and its multiplayer but i've found it to be dull and boring even though i was trying my hardest to like it.

You know the sad thing is this game was DONE DONE a year ago. You cant tell me you just didnt have time. The only reason this game didnt come out a year ago is because Sony wanted to hold it for the 25th Anniv of Ghostbusters. Plus lets not talk about the 90% of people who cant even install Ghostbusters on there PC cause it does not work.. And Atari's comments regarding this problem are the same as usual.. NOTHING
