Rumors About A New Xbox 360 Have Been Refuted And RevisedThe Interwebs were astir yesterday after 1UP claimed to have learned that Microsoft was planning to introduce a redesigned and upgraded version of the Xbox 360 sometime next year, around the launch of the Project Natal add-on. Well now, not only have those rumors been refuted, they’ve been expanded upon to create an all-new super rumor.

Citing double-secret insider info, the folks over at TeamXbox report that Microsoft has no plans to introduce a new Xbox 360, but they say that a special edition of the console with built-in Natal support is still entirely possible. However, the biggest new addition to the rumor pile is that over the next few weeks, new information (which TeamXbox claims to already be privy) will start being released about the next Xbox.

For now, the only thing TeamXbox will reveal at this time is that Microsoft doesn’t plan on launching a new console until “a certain type of television becomes more widespread, because in addition to built-in Natal tech, a key feature of the next Xbox would be full HD stereoscopic 3D visuals similar to 3D movie theatres.”

Well played TeamXbox. Of course, until someone actually confirms any of this info, none of it should be believed. I mean, it all sounds plausible enough (a bit more plausible than I usually like my rumors to be honest), but we don’t even know that much about Project Natal yet, and we're already talking about two new consoles, one that supports 3D HD gaming? Let's pace ourselves, people.

But as long as we’re tossing rumors around, here’s one for you: In addition to hands-free motion-control support, the next Xbox will also support Microsoft’s Surface technology with your TV being the main screen and the Surface display as your secondary screen, sort of like a living-room sized version of the Nintendo DS. Now we play the waiting game to see whose rumor is right.

What’s your take on these new Xbox rumors?

    I hate the Idea of 3D gaming because you still have to wear some rediculously STUPID glasses well playing, I wear glasses to see normally so putting on another set of glasses for 3D is not appealing. And the 3D glasses is just another thing to frigging lose! and I know its just a rumour but the Idea sucks. The game industry with all this 3D and motion sensing crap is really becoming less appealing to me very quickly, which sucks cause just about every other facet of current and future Technology Thoroughy invigorates me.

    ima 360 fan but i dont like the natal idea all that much. i would rather have a motion sensing controller. i dont wanna look like an idiot flailing my arms everywhere. i wish Wii would make a system that has as good of graphics as the other consoles but with more hardcore games. i dont like mario games and stupid little kiddy games that the Wii has alot of. i would love a zelda game with with some kick@$$ graphics

    @Redd75
    I think he is talking about TV's that can utilize enhanced 3D.

    The problem with this is that how many people can sit around wearing 3D glasses for hours on end? Its fine for a movie where you only use it for a couple of hours. what happens to your vision if you are playing games for multiple 5 hour sessions a week?

    Hopefully if some of this crap does Happen, the current Gen systems will be like the PS2 is now and still keep pumping out games for them, or at least games that you wouldnt have to use this motion sensing BS!

    So my post about yesterdays article was right on the mark, here's quote from the source article ...(although built-in Natal technology is a possibility for a new edition of the Xbox 360, similar to the Elite or Arcade flavors)... That's pretty much what I thought, A new SKU NOT a totally new console.

    Considering that I've been a Rhander(short for Right hander) all my life, I have used my left (before) at some point.

    @qec - Come to think of it no more items should be added to the experience, take away all guitars, drums, skateboards, hey, even get rid of all controllers all together, because it's just one more thing to lose/slash break.

    Really man? maybe nothing should ever change in the game industry would that make you happy? let's go back to 2 button controllers and a d-pad

    I don't see Microsoft releasing a new Xbox for at least 2 more years, more likely 3 to 4. But a 3D gaming system that combines "Natle-like" motion sensitive tech seems believeable and even appealing if it works…and to ensure that it does they will likely need a few years to tinker with it. IMHO

    @shockwave
    He was merely expressing his disinterest in motion sensing control schemes. I have to agree with him. I really like using a controller or mouse and keyboard. I get plenty of exercise where I don't need to break a sweat when I relax to play a game.

    for muiltiplayer games, i want my standard hand controller. but for singleplayer(rpg, action-adventure)i think Natal and 3d scop. would be pretty bad ass. i imagine all bots actually looking at ur direction in ur room and walking in a dungeon in 3d would be sick. i was used to buying a new console every 4 years, but its refreshing that this console generation has a longer life span.

    Slaytanic is just mad because my hometown is the current champions in both the NFL and the NHL. On top of that, we went through his hometown on our way to both titles.

    It's a smear campaign, I tell you.

    I might just have to buy that... Motion sensing better not be the only way to play games on this "Xbox 540"...

    Yea, I named it.
