is set in Louisiana, and adds mêlée combat to the Left 4 Dead mix, giving players the option to brain zombies with axes, chainsaws, frying pans, baseball bats and other weapons.
That's not the only change to the game. L4D2 gives the director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. Left 4 Dead 2 will feature new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, too, as well as more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch.
Left 4 Dead 2 will be out on November 17th for the 360.

Well, Valve, thank you for allocating time and personell away from Half Life episode 3 to repackage a game.

So, this is the reason why Valve is NOT working on Half Life 2, Episode 3 or Portal 2?
Don't get me wrong; I love Left 4 Dead, but why do we get a sequel to such a recent game when the other great games that Valve has get left behind?

I have to agree with SourProphit and IcemanMX. Left 4 Dead 2 appears to just be a repackaging/add-on to Left 4 Dead.
There's no doubt that I'll most likely be picking it up and putting some $$ into Valve's pockets, but I'd be more excited for a HL2 Ep.3 announcement.

ya, this lookes like a great game and i cant wait for it, BUT i am a huge fan of valve and have been playing scence half life 1 and have been waitting for half life2 episode 3 longer than most people have even known about valve. i hope that they make a large amount of money on the Left for Dead series and spend alot of that profit continuing ther great work on the HL series. hopfully most of the Left for Dead fans will hear of the HL series and check out what valve can realy do when they have money and time.

Is it just me or does it seem a little too soon for a Left 4 Dead sequel? It sounds like they took the first game, added some new skins, more weapons and the ability to randomize stuff. from what they did they probably could have just released it as a patch or sell it as DLC for $20, instead of charging 50-60 for a whole new game. It just seems like they are pulling the whole Guitar Hero thing on the Left 4 Dead franchise.

I love the zombie genre and was bought Left 4 Dead the day it came out andI got bored with it after about 4 months. Theres no strategy, just see how many you can shoot. Not sure if i will buy this, might wait for Dead Rising 2.

2 things.
They made Left 4 Dead 2 before the next Half Life 2(Which won't be an episode, thank you,) Because they could map and populate entire massive maps using a few lines of code while still making thousands upon thousands of hours of new content,
And the second thing is asking why they didn't just post the release date, because there's a big sticker that SAYS 'November 17th'

Is this DLC? I feel like the changes are just a few new models, maps, and skins, all of which could easily be downloaded for like $30 rather than pay double that for a disc release.

I'm pretty pissed about this it'll be cool but there was obviously little thought put into left 4 dead 1 if 2 is coming out exactly a year later, the melee seems pretty cool but the boss battle idea is just terrible, if anything they should try and make the zombies as real as possible, I know that sounds strange but tanks are strong enough how about just boost the brutality of the tank an make it crash through some walls, and add just harder hord waves at the end of each check point or what ever. Bottom line boss battles = some dumb stuff
