'Pokemon Gold/Silver' DS Remakes To Be Announced On Sunday?

Pokemon fans have been clamoring for DS remakes of the Gold/Silver games. It looks like their wish may come true this coming Sunday. According to Serebii.net:

"Earlier today, in the Pokémon Sunday variety show and it's website, it was announced that, during their episode next week, they shall reveal a world-exclusive bit of news. Their website states this will be done within the Game Area of their show so it is more than likely a brand new game. There is much speculation as to what the game is, with the general consensus being a Gold/Silver remake which does match up with some new figures of Chikorita, Cyndaquil & Totodile being released in Japan on September 19th 2009, but nothing is confirmed yet, so if you see other sites reporting it as a specific game, remember it is not confirmed that it is that game. [Pokemon magazine] CoroCoro is also due out soon after that so that should also contain information on the game announcement."

There's even a rumor that GameFreak director Junichi Masuda will be on the show to announce the news himself! Considering how popular Gold/Silver are (many fans feel that they're the two best games in the series), it was just a matter of time before they got touched up for the DS. I'm totally down with exploring Johto all over again, so I hope the rumors are true.

On a related note, Pokemon Sunday is another reason why Japan has a superior gaming culture. America needs a Pokemon variety show with a hot Japanese chick. Wait a minute...G4 should...time to book the pitch room!
