Not only is Nintendo spending more than $100 million on a research-and-development facility, the company is opening another Pokemon Center in Sapporo, Japan. In the game, Pokemon Centers are places where trainers can go to heal their Pokemon. In the cartoon, they're known for offering trainers a place to grab a bite to eat and spend the night, causing thousands of cases of teenage vagrancy in Johto -- why live with your parents when there are these awesome Pokemon Centers to eat and sleep in, right?
In reality, they are wonderful stores full of Pokemon toys, clothes, cards, games, accessories, and limited edition Nintendo consoles. Nintendo already has Pokemon Centers in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Yokohama. The Sapporo store opens on March 6, 2009.
I think G4 should send me there for the grand opening...armed with millions of yen to buy stuff.
Anyone ever been to a Pokemon Center? I've been to the ones in Tokyo and New York (which has sadly closed).
