While Midway's TNA Impact had its problems, it also did a lot of things right. One of the most fascinating aspects of the game was its use of story-mode character, Suicide. Created specifically for the game, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling has been teasing Suicide's debut for months on its weekly television show. Suicide made his in-ring debut on December 7 at the "Final Resolution" pay-per-view event and has been haunting the TNA Impact Zone ever since. On last night's episode of TNA Impact, Suicide rappelled to the ring, disrupted a women's match, and magically disappeared. The character's creation and implementation is just a clever and well orchestrated tie-in. Midway states:

"Art often imitates life in the wrestling and video game world, but with the help of Midway's TNA iMPACT!, TNA Wrestling has reversed that trend by bringing a video-game character to real-life. Based on the main storyline character in the hit TNA iMPACT! video game, Suicide will enter TNA with one thing on his mind: revenge."

Let me put on my luchador mask for a second.... Okay, I'm going to break kayfabe for a bit. Suicide is actually Frankie Kazarian, a former WWE wrestler and longtime TNA employee. (Hopefully the revelation doesn't ruin your Friday). The Suicide gimmick should work for all parties. Kazarian is a dynamic wrestler that can make Suicide look awesome, but he's also a bit weak on the microphone. Hiding behind the mysterious Suicide character lets him emphasize his in-ring skills and hide his deficiencies. It will be interesting to see how long Suicide lasts. If he's handled properly, he just might become a major selling point for the TNA Impact sequel. (But knowing how bad the TNA writers can get, I'm fully expecting them to botch the character.)
