GameDaily posted a reader interview with Entertainment Software Association (ESA) CEO Mike Gallagher. It's an interesting read that covers a broad range of topics including working with president elect Barack Obama, working with the new democratic government, curbing software piracy, and more. As some of you know, the ESA is the organization that runs the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Since its inception, everyday video-game fans have been wondering when they'd be allowed to attend E3. According to Gallagher, consumers shouldn't hold their breath.

"The E3 Expo is and will continue to be the pre-eminent computer and video game event in North America. However, the E3 Expo has never been a consumer show, even in the past years when it was much larger. Our goal is to gather the industry in one place and show the world a dynamic and high-growth video game industry. Part of that world is our consumer base and there will be lots of ways for them to experience what's going on at the E3 Expo without being there."

While some people were speculating that E3 might go to a format similar to Tokyo Game Show (TGS) where there are days designated for the industry before the show opens to the public, that did no come to pass. Thankfully, shows like Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) have addressed the general public's need for a video-game expo. Although it would make working the show harder, I'd like to see E3 use the TGS model. I think the vibe would be immense and I'd love to experience it.

Do you guys still care enough about E3 to want to attend?
