GigaOm reports that president-elect Barack Obama has enlisted a hardcore World of Warcraft player as part of his Federal Communications Commission (FCC) transition team. The site reports:
"Obama appointed Kevin Werbach, assistant professor of legal studies and business ethics at Wharton, and Susan Crawford, who teaches communications and Internet law at the University of Michigan, to co-chair his FCC transition team. This is clearly good news for Net advocates, and as it happens, it could also be good news for online gamers. The Wharton professor is a hardcore World of Warcraft player, a member of two guilds."

This is excellent news. As technology has grown, the FCC has often stifled its deployment. This is what happens when an organization that deals with cutting-edge technology is handled by old people that don't fully understand it. I'm only slightly kidding, but it's nice to see more gamers in government. Though the government getting WoW players like idiot Swedish boy would be a bad thing.
