It's a very bad day for Tennessee college student David Kernell. Kernell has been identified as the person who "hacked" vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's email account. Bad times. Worse times: His dad is Tennessee State Rep. Mike Kernell. Ouch! Do you think things will be a little tense around the Thanksgiving table this year?
After "hacking" Palin's account by doing five minutes of internet research to answer Yahoo!'s security questions, supposedly, Kernell changed her password to "Popcorn" (get it? "Kernell?" "Popcorn?") and posted the info to a well known online support group for young-adult agoraphobics.
Apparently, the authorities have been in contact with Kernell already, which proves that sometimes, the internet actually is serious business.
The moral of the story: Keep your nose out of other people's business.
