As expected from many speculations and rumors, Nintendo announced Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii during their press conference today (and it's still underway!). The game is expected to be released by the end of the year and it will feature the new "WiiSpeak" voice peripheral that will allow voice chat within the players' virtual community.
Before the game's introduction, Nintendo president Saturo Iwata mentioned that social interaction and community means a lot to his company, and Animal Crossing: City Folk would be a perfect fit to that notion. City Folk features a whole new level of Animal Crossing community interaction, including shops, school buses, and even the ability to put your own Mii head on your character!
Stay tuned for more E3 news and check out our live streaming of the conference.
