In case you were under a rock for the last few days: The new, 3G iPhone is on sale, right now. The iTunes update with the App Store for applications is live too.
The launch day game total is impressive:
- Total Games: 41
- Action/Adventure Games: 9
- Casino/Card Games: 8
- Family/Kids Games: 8
- Racing/Arcade Games: 8
- Puzzle/Strategy Games: 8
While that includes some very, very casual games that are more like mini-games than full titles (is Etch-a-Sketch really a game?) it also includes some heavy hitters like the above-pictured Monkey Ball, which is addictive as a mutha. Compare that to the launch of other handheld platforms. The DS shipped out with 11 games, and that PSP showed up on the scene with 24 games.
So the question is: Is there a third, valid handheld gaming platform out there?
