An IDC report found that Research in Motion, who manufactures the BlackBerry and it's various iterations, sold more smartphones in the first quarter of this year than any other company, scooping up a 44.5% marketshare.
The marketshare numbers are expected to shift dramatically once the 3G iPhone makes its way to shelves, but for now, BlackBerry is the assumed professional's choice for multipurpose telecom.
Here's a look at the hierarchy of marketshare for smartphones in Q1 2008:
Research in Motion (BlackBerry): 44.5%
Apple (iPhone): 19.2%
Palm (Centro): 13.4%
Samsung: 8.6%
Motorola: 2.6%
High Tech Computer: 4.1%
