Okay kids, here’s a lil’ Grindhouse update for ya.
There’s a lot of rumors floating around as to what the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse is, who is doing what, and why the trailer for it is being called a Planet Doom preview, yet appears to actually be for a film called The Machete. Well, TheFeed heard from a source close to Tarantino and clarified a few things.
TheFeed has learned that the trailer that debuted on Spike's Chainsaw Awards last week was in fact some clips from Planet Doom combined with one of the fake previews that the dynamic duo have shot to run with their Grindhouse experience. Additionally, both of the actual films they are shooting – Tarantino’s Death Proof and Rodriguez’s Planet Terror – will be feature length (not shorts as as many have said), with the fake trailers for other exploitation flicks running in between, making the experience around three hours or so.
Tarantino told MTV recently that their also working on trailers for the blaxploitation, kung-fu, sexploitation, and spaghetti-western genres to add to the list of fun stuff that will be shown in between their flicks.” I think for sure I'm going to do the sexploitation trailer, which is called Cowgirls in Sweden," he noted. The cast of each flick will also make cameos in the trailers, alongside other actors the directors have cast in the previews (only).
The guys really want the audience to relive the experience of seeing a double bill of exploitation in the ‘70s, which were dubbed grindhouses, complete with previews of other trashy flicks to come.
The cast of Rodriguez’s Planet Terror includes Rose McGowan, Michael Biehn, Josh Brolin, Michael Parks, Freddy Rodríguez, and horror make-up wizard and sometime actor Tom Savini. McGowan may also be one of the stars of Tarantino’s Planet Terror, which we know stars Zoe Bell and Kurt Russell, who replaced Mickey Rourke. Word has it that horror director John Carpenter (who also often writes and performs the music in his films) has been approached to do the music for one or both movies.
"Mine is sort of a slasher film, but instead of a knife, it's a car,” Tarantino revealed to MTV. “His, he's dealing with zombies and all that stuff.”
And that, ladies and gents, is what we know.
...oh yeah, we know one other thing: Grindhouse is sure to be the GREATEST MOVIE(s) EVER!!!!!
Watch the Grindhouse preview on Youtube NOW before it gets pulled. They keep going up, and get pulled down just as quick, so do a search for the title and catch it while you can.
