Ah, Thanksgiving football. Truly there is nothing greater! There are a lot of great games on today:

  • Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
  • Oakland Raiders at Dallas Cowboys
  • New York Giants at Denver Broncos

Clearly, the only thing to do was use Madden NFL 2010 to determine which teams will emerge victorious today. Please do not use the results in any gambling or gambling related activities. Watch the video and go ahead and leave your predictions in the comments section.

Capcom's Seth Killian stopped by this morning with a playable build of Super Street Fighter IV and was kind enough to walk us through the three new playable characters that have been announced for the upcoming revision: Juri, T. Hawk, and Dee Jay.

The following video will give you some nice insight into the characters, their moves, how they play, and if Capcom PR guys can pull off 720 degree inputs on command. Oh, and it's also full of tons of new gameplay footage in HD (or SD if you don't like awesome).

Super Street Fighter IV Direct-Feed Developer Walkthrough »

Which of the three characters shown would you play with? I'm definitely going to give Dee Jay a try when this game releases next Spring.

Backerman There is a crap ton of people saying the same thing. It is a different game when it comes to DLC. You would have to download the biggest patch in the world. You guys have got to understand this is not the same game anymore. The devs have revamped the game from head to toes. EVERY character has been improved. From the smallest of glitches like cammy running threw downed characters, to not being able to get out of a fei long standing F into a chicken wing combo.

Buzz! Quiz World Review

bleahy
3 Comments Posted November 13, 2009 - By Brian Leahy

Buzz! Quiz World

Buzz! Quiz World is a lot like the TV show Lost. There's a guy with a British accent and both feature over 5,000 questions to be answered. Thankfully, the questions in Quiz World aren't as complicated and I'm pretty sure there's no smoke monster yet. Maybe he'll be added as DLC. The game's community-created quiz support also means you could make a quiz about Lost and upload it to the world. Full circle.

TheFeed's own Dana Vinson has the review and discusses the game's tendency to help you eliminate incorrect answers if you need to guess:

The game also does a horrible job of making easy questions harder. Quiz World often gives you the right answer and then three other choices that are not even in the stratosphere of what the possible answer could be. To illustrate, let’s say the question was “Who was the first president of the United States?” The choices might be George Washington, Measles, Cheese, A Dodge Stratus.  Even if for some bizarre reason you didn’t know that good ol’ George was our first President, you’d know that it couldn’t possibly be any of the others. Although, I think we can all agree that it SHOULD have been Cheese.

The reviewer obviously didn't play the last iteration - Sony "ditched" the dual shocks for this title a long time ago (on the PS2 as a matter of fact). I give this review a 1 out of 5. I give Buzz! a 4 out of 5. Now I suddenly want a Big Mac.

Not waiting at a midnight release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Stuck at work or school with your copy patiently waiting at home? Why not watch three multiplayer videos to keep yourself occupied until you can finally play Infinity Ward's newest game?

First up, some Team Deathmatch on Scrapyard rolling with a P90 and some run and gun perks. Scrapyard is a small map, but flows incredibly well with good cover and buildings.

Hit the break for a look at some 3rd Person Demolition on Afghan. This is a double-shot of new for MW2 with the all-new 3rd person camera and Demolition, which is an update on Search & Destroy that enables respawning and doesn't end when the first target blows up.

Wow. This is just plain stupid.
I mean they at least could have mead the entire armor on fire, instead of hastily adding a fire model under the helmet model, and making it clip through the head. I want a whole flaming, demonic looking suit of armor, make it look like it's actually supposed to be on fire, not just a head that makes me look really, really angry.

Dragon Age: Origins will be released tomorrow for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. While you wait one more excruciating day, watch this interview between Adam Sessler and Mike Laidlaw, lead designer on the game at BioWare.

Adam and Mike discuss the game's 5-year development, lessons learned from previous BioWare games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, and how the dev team specifically wanted to help players that may not be familiar with the company's previous titles that relied on the Dungeons & Dragons ruleset get right into the action.

"Moving away from things like round-based concepts and things that were very tabletop-heavy and moving to elements, talents, and abilities that make sense and are, ideally, very visceral. So you can actually see them play out. That's the thing about tabletop gaming. It's abstract by nature. It's a bunch of friends and a bowl of chips. The bowl of chips have no part in combat, but they're there! So, you have to get past that "it's all in your imagination". With a game, you can create animations and models. When you 'Shield Bash' someone, even if you aren't quite sure what effect that has and then [the enemy] goes ass over tea kettle... well, it's pretty obvious what just happened."

Ever heard of a little game called World of WarCraft? It's one of those fancy computer games all the kids are playing these days. In fact, there are 13 million kids and adults that play World of WarCraft on a regular basis. Let's just hope they don't band together and form their own country.

Since we're approaching the 5 year anniversary of the game's launch, Morgan Webb went down to Anaheim to interview a few of the guys at Blizzard who started the MMO sensation that became World of WarCraft. First, take a gander at part one of her interview with Game Director Tom Chilton where he discusses what his primarily role was within creating the prolific, Blizzard MMO experience and more.

BioWare is releasing Dragon Age: Origins next week for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but they are also readying another epic RPG experience for release on January 26, 2010. I am talking, of course, about Mass Effect 2, the follow-up to the hugely popular RPG released almost two years ago.

While you (and we) wait for more Mass Effect 2 coverage... BioWare is currently focusing on Dragon Age: Origins, after all... hold yourself over with some beautiful exclusive combat footage featuring Shepard mowing down enemy Husks, Scions, and Abominations.

Also, catch a glimpse of what looks like achievement/medal tracking near the end of the video. I'm so glad Gears of War 2 started that trend!

Valve's Left 4 Dead redefined co-operative gameplay when it released last year and the sequel is set to re-re-define (is that possible?) the genre. Ju-on: The Grudge Review

bleahy

Ju-On: The Grudge Review

Remember that movie The Grudge with Sarah Michelle Gellar? Yes? Ok, we're off to a good start. Now, were you aware that that film was actually based on a Japanese horror film called Ju-on: The Grudge? You were?! Awesome. Well, now you can live out all your Grudgey fantasies on the Wii with the aptly titled Ju-on: The Grudge.

Reviewer Jason D'Aprile is here to help you determine if this game is truly a Ju-on or if it's just a Ju-off.

Based on the endless stream of Japanese horror films, the game successfully captures the oppressive atmosphere of the source material. Whether that's a good thing depends wholly on your love of the series, and J-horror movies in general. Like the Ju-on movies, every episode has essentially the same fatal ending. As a result, many gamers won't find the game attractive. However, if creepy, murderous ghosts and their cat-screeching dead sons are your cup of tea, Ju-on holds more appeal.

@ GameBrahma;

Did you read Mr. D'Aprile's review? Because if you did, then I don't think you'd be saying that... unless of course you already have the game, in witch case; to each his own, I guess.

If you want a GOOD Halloween game, may I suggest Silent Hill 2, one of the earlier Resident Evil games, or Eternal Darkness?

Tekken 6 Review

6 Comments Posted October 27, 2009 - By Brian Leahy

New Tekken 6 Imagery Reveals More Characters, Maintains Tekken 6 Wackiness

Tekken 6 has been released for some 3D fighting action on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but is it worth your hard-earned $60? The game packs in 40 fighters, including 6 newcomers, and a few new gameplay features. Reviewer Daniel Boutros explains some of these new features in his review:

This time, in Tekken 6, Namco has added a "rage" mode.  When your energy bar is at 20% or less, the character decides it’s time to get pissed off and deals double damage, while simulatneously absorbing less damage.  On paper, it sounds cool, but in practice it makes comeback wins feel cheap. The other labeled innovation is the "bound" move; in which you slam someone into the floor so they bounce. But wait a sec... you could do that in Tekken 3!  The real news of this feature is that you use the move to smash your opponent through a breakable floor in multi-tiered stages.  And that’s still not very exciting.  Ah well.  They tried.  Or rather… didn’t.

I would have to disagree. I think Tekken pushed the envelope with this. Sure there are things they could have done extra. I think more emphasis on the online play should have been taken into consideration. And ofcourse everyone would have liked to have had the Tag mode from Tekken Tag but we already knew it wasn't going to have that and is a whole different game in itself. If you've been playing Tekken 5 DR online for the past 2 years and then picked this up you'd see the huge differences...

DJ Hero Review

bleahy
5 Comments Posted October 27, 2009 - By Brian Leahy

DJ Hero

Launching a new music franchise at this point is a pretty gutsy move by Activision, especially one that packs a brand new peripheral. That's right. There's no picking up the game by itself for DJ Hero. Thankfully, TheFeed's own Patrick Klepek is here with a full review to help you decide if the game's steep $120 price tag is worth the investment.

Curious how the game works? Patrick explains:

The biggest success of DJ Hero is proving that it's possible to take the general concept behind DJ'ing (you, uh, put two songs next to one another and they make a beautiful sounding baby, right?) and make a fun game out of it. The samples are mapped to three colored keys, and the corresponding icons come down the center of the screen in the same fashion they have since Guitar Hero popularized the concept. Scratching adds variety through both directional (both up and down) movements and moments of scratching at your leisure. These are secondary to DJ Hero's main gameplay mechanic, however: the crossfader. The crossfader's implemented in several ways. Primarily, it's used to alternate between the two songs being mashed together, but it's also an advanced-level note of sorts. On the harder difficulties, "spikes" appear on the left and right hand side of the screen, asking the player to quickly "spike" the fader to the left or right and back to the center.
