New Super Mario Bros. U Video Review »

You need to check out our New Super Mario Bros U review. The appearance of a new Mario game seems to go along with the launch of every Nintendo console, and the Wii U is no different. Sure, old Mario is nostalgia, but is it actually good? We turned to Jason "Make A" Wishnov to get his expert opinion.

Here's a taste of his New Super Mario Bros U review:

"New Super Mario Bros U is the first ever first-party Nintendo game produced in high definition, and I’m very unsurprised to say it matters very little. The graphical style (save for a few relatively inspired levels in the Soda Jungle) is cribbed from previous entries in the NSMB series, which was never much worth your attention. Some impressive backgrounds via parallax scrolling are achieved, and boy do those coins look crisp, but this is not a game that in any way shows off the graphical capabilities of the Wii U. Combined with a remarkably disappointing musical effort, in which no risks are taken and entire songs are stolen wholesale from previous entries, one can’t help but shake the feeling of a very un-Nintendo level of polish here."

ZombiU Video: The First 15 Minutes

Posted November 20, 2012 - By Stephen Johnson

ZombiU is, so far, the best Wii U game I have played. Admittedly, I haven't played that many, but still, it's scary, cool-looking, action-packed and perfect to show off the controls and capabilities of the Wii U.

Check out the video below, that shows off the first 15 minutes of ZombiU!

First 15: ZombiU »

Help Crush Epilepsy... By Playing A Game

King.com wants to crush epilepsy, and they want you to help. Luckily, no one is expecting you to go to medical school and find a cure. All you have to do is play a video game. From November 15, 2012, King.com will be supporting The Epilepsy Foundation of America by donating $1 to the foundation for every mobile download of their hit game Candy Crush Saga.

Here's how: Use you iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch to visit www.crushepilepsy.com. Then download Candy Crush Saga, and a buck will go to help people with epilepsy.

Seriously, in this time of giving thanks, this is a great opportunity to give something back to people less fortunate than you are, and you also get to play a game -- that's what we call a win-win.

You Can Decide Final Game In Videogame Deathmatch

The second round of Videogame Deathmatch: Best of 2012 has begun, people. Loser games like Journey and ZombiU have been crushed by more deserving titles, and now 16 games are left standing. There are eight battles raging, pitting games like Sleeping Dogs against Dishonored and Borderlands 2 against Mark of the Ninja! So vote now!

Make your voice heard by voting in our second round of Videogame Deathmatch, right now!

Over the last few days, I've been taking a look at some of the more interesting contests from our Videogame Deathmatch: Best of 2012 edition, and have been focusing mainly on close fights, but I'm gonna look at a total blowout. There is no question who will win the battle between UFC Undisputed 3 and Dishonored. Dishonored has garnered 92 percent of the vote, where the professional fighters of the UFC have only eight percent of the public's approval.

If you're a huge UFC fan, now is the time to organize all like-minded fans of the genre/sports and get them to vote. I don't think that will happen, but if it does, it will be a huge upset.

Head over to our Videogame Deathmatch page and vote for the best games of 2012.

Hitman: Absolution

According to our reviewer, Adam "The Riveter" Rosenberg, Hitman: Absolution is a triumph of detail, plot and murder, and a lot of the credit goes to the details made possible by the game's engine.

Check out this snippet of our Hitman: Absolution review

"Every one of the game's 50+ discrete environments is brimming with life and personality, as well as any number of points of interaction. There are makeshift weapons to be found, shortcuts and secret access points accessible via ledges and air ducts, distraction opportunities... so much that it's almost daunting. Replay value is at an all-time high in the campaign since you can approach any challenge in a ridiculous variety of ways."

Wii U Teardown

Tech website AnandTech has dissected a Wii U, and show off all the naked guts of Nintendo's new system.

If you're into the internal workings of your game machines, this is the blog post for you. You will marvel at the PowerPC-based CPU, built on IBM's 45-nanometer process paired with a GPU similar to AMD's RV7xx design.. You'll swoon over the Wii U's 2GB of DDR3 RAM (plus an unspecified amount of eDRAM). You'll marvel at the machine's 12.8GB/s memory bandwidth.

NBA 2K13

The first round of Videogame Deathmatch is humming along, and 16 of the best games of 2012 are battling it out to the death. One dust-up that stuck out to me is the fight between FIFA Soccer 13 against NBA 2K13.

Basketball is an all-American sport, well established and well known, where soccer is a rapidly growing sport in the U.S. Of course, in other countries, soccer is practically a religion. In our videogame deathmatch, FIFA is winning against NBA, but only slightly. The score: FIFA has earned 54 percent of the vote, and NBA is at 46 percent.

It's not to late to make your voice heard! Vote on our Videogame Deathmatch: Best of 2012.

Hitman: Absolution -- Highlights from the First 5 Chapters

Hitman: Absolution is taking on XCOM: Enemy Unknown in our Videogame Deathmatch Best of 2012 contest, and people, it's a pitched battle. Right now, Hitman is up with 51% of the vote, but it's such a slim margin, it really could go either way. XCOM: Enemy Unknown might stage a comeback and earn enough votes with its RTS style to kill of Agen 47!

Sleeping Dogs

Our Videogame Deathmatch to determine the best games of 2012 is in full swing, with 16 of the best games of the last year fighting it out for ultimate supremacy.

While many of the first-seed matchups are going exactly how you might expect -- did anyone really think Journey would beat Mass Effect 3 -- there is an interesting upset in the making. In the battle of Sleeping Dogs vs. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the under(sleeping)dog is ahead of Black Ops 2, the best selling game in 2012. The race is tight. Sleeping Dogs has earned 55% of the vote to Blops 2's 45%, so the momentum could easily change by the end of voting, but what an interesting result!

Is this evidence of a blockbuster backlash? Or is Sleeping Dogs really a better game?

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Today's spotlight video game death matchup: Transformers Fall of Cybertron Vs. Street Fighter X Tekken! This battle of the titans pits giant transforming robots against classic (mostly) human fighters. Right now, Transformers have 56 percent of the vote, but it's still early in the competition, and anything could happen!

Halo 4 with Jessica Chobot & Alex Albrecht »

The early voting in round one of Videogame Deathmatch best of 2012 edition is happening right now, and some of the battles are shaping up to be very interesting. While there are some outright shellackings happening -- Mass Effect 3 is beating Journey by like 50 points, and Borderlands 2 is clocking 90% of votes against Forza: Horizon -- but there are some battles shaping up to be very, very close, including the showdown between ZombiU and Lego: Lord of the Rings.

Right now, Lego: Lord of the Rings is ahead, 59% to 41%, but the voting is in its early stages, and the hype around ZombiU -- a launch game for a new system -- may just close that gap by the time the voting is over. That LOTR is just out today and ZombiU still not available might sway public opinion, but that's the great thing about VGDM: Anything can happen! Feel free to add your click to the mountain of voters: It's the democratic thing to do.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Official Gameplay Trailer »

Grand Theft Auto 5 has a new trailer, people.  You can see the GTA 5 video above. As you can see, it shows off the three different characters you'll be playing as when the game comes out., and even shows the trio meeting. Judging from the trailer, Rockstar is aiming at a little bit of a lighter tone than Grand Theft Auto 4. It's also got some jaw-lowering action set pieces, fast cars and fast women.

Personally, I loved seeing a rottweiler in the game. Dangerous dogs: CONFIRMED!

Also: In case you're wondering, the amazing song in the soundtrack is "Skeletons" by the great Stevie Wonder.
