Pro Evolution Soccer 2010
Although Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 lacks all of FIFA 10's fanfare, it's a remarkable return to form for a series that has spent most of this console generation languishing. If you're a truly hardcore soccer fan, there's room on your shelf for two soccer games this year.

Rabbids Go Home
This time, the Rabbids are not only given their turn in the spotlight, but they're also busting out of the mini-game collection genre that has contained them for far too long. Rabbids Go Home isn't your typical platformer, but we would expect nothing less based on its protagonists.

Lips: Number One Hits
Lips: Number One Hits is a souped up track pack masquerading as a full-price retail game. While there have been some noticeable improvements, those who want a fun karaoke experience should stick with the original game. Unfortunately, Number One Hits is a "must buy" for Lips devotees only.

Band Hero
Love music games but think Rock Band has too much rock and Guitar Hero that nasty guitar? Then Band Hero, so named because "Pop Hero" sounds a bit funny, might be for you. The art is shiny and friendly, the songs are (mostly) culled from the pop charts, and there's even a karaoke mode for those times when plastic instruments just aren't...

Band Hero (DS)
Though you can't blame Activision for wanting to extend one of their most valuable brands to as many platforms as possible, they've done a disservice to both the brand and the unique strengths of the DS in this shoe-horn job.
-
Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier
Jak is back! One of Sony's quirkiest duos continues their story onward from Jak III, as the stalwart and wise-cracking heroes struggle to uncover more secrets of the eco. Sky pirates, huge cities and plenty of other exotic platform-filled locations await platformer fans.

Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age is a brilliant, if slightly predictable, addition to BioWare's stable of RPG classics. It suffers from a few problems with plotting and world building but ultimately triumphs, offering a classic RPG experience that can hold its head high with any of BioWare's previous games.
-
LEGO Rock Band
LEGO Rock Band isn't for Rock Band fans, or even LEGO Batman fans old enough to buy games on their own. But if you're the parent of a little kid and want a game that you can play together, you'd be hard pressed to find anything that will keep you both as engaged and entertained.
-
Need for Speed: Nitro
With the recently released Need for Speed: Shift, Electronic Arts appeared to have its beloved racing franchise back on the right track. Sadly, EA decided to release another Need for Speed game this year, Need for Speed: Nitro, and tarnish the critical and commercial success attained by Shift in one blistering-fast lap. The game definitely has...

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron (DS)
Designed by n-Space, the Star Wars: Battlefront series makes its DS debut with Elite Squadron. Released at the same time as the PSP version, the DS game features the same basic storyline of twin clone troopers who follow divergent career paths. You'll also battle swarms of stormtroopers and CIS robots on 11 different worlds from the film series,...
-
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron (PSP)
For reasons as inexplicable as Jar Jar Binks, the Star Wars: Battlefront series continues on as a handheld exclusive, despite its previous success on consoles and computers. Marketed as the largest Battlefront game to date, Elite Squadron is an unquestionably ambitious title for a portable system. Will the promise of one connected battlefront,...

Lucidity
A competent puzzle/platformer in avant-garde clothing, Lucidity is heavy on art style, but fails to handle its material maturely. The core mechanics are equal parts tense and frustrating, and it's good fun for awhile, though it quickly runs out of ideas. However, for the ten-dollar price point, it might be worth a look.
-
Fairytale Fights
Fairytale Fights is a third-person hack & slash game with a bit of platforming thrown in for color. Playing as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack of "...And The Beanstalk" fame, Snow White, or that Emperor who got conned into walking around naked, you go on a killing spree through a colorful, cartoony world filled with happy little trees, babbling...
-
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky
Pok?mon fever has no signs of going into remission, though it would seem Nintendo isn't taking any chances, churning out spin-offs and updates at a dizzying clip. For its fourth appearance on Nintendo DS, the Pok?mon Mystery Dungeon series goes "green" by recycling all content found in both Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Time. Will...
-
Half-Minute Hero
Fans of classic role-playing will be glued to their PSPs with this quirky gem. The blend of old-school graphics and gameplay with irreverent humor and time constraints provides gamers with an original portable adventure. There are four styles of gameplay as well, and enough variety and missions to attract hardcore and casual players.
