Based on the semi-popular Nick series of the same name, starring Britney Spears' younger sister, here's Zoey 101 for the Game Boy Advanced, and X-Play is here to snick you a review.
The Pros
- ?????????? umm nice box art that 12 year old girl might appreciate.
The Cons
- Very reminiscent of a low budget NES title
- The graphics, the music, the gameplay and the save system are archaic
- This game offers nothing educational to younger audience
Dear Diary
I don’t know why I am writing this review but I was kind of forced to since no one was willing to take the job. I totally understand why too
I figure that I should change my grammar to that of a 12 year old girl when writing this review because, those are the type of people that would even consider reading a review about this game
Basic 101
Zoey 101 is a game based on the hit Nickelodeon Show staring Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney’s less-talented younger sister. (It must be great to get a free ride to fame)
Sadly I came across the first episode of Zoey 101 a couple years ago. If my memory serves me correct, Zoey attends Pacific Coast Academy a co-ed boarding school which used to be an all boys boarding school. All I know is that it was never as cool as Alex Mac or Clarissa Explains It All (I know it’s sad I’m making such comparisons)
The game starts off with some annoying music and pages and pages of mindless text. To sum it up: It’s a new semester at PCA and Zoey wants to throw an awesome party. But everybody is separated into cliques. The Boys, The Girls, and the Faculty. In order to get everyone together you have to please them by playing mini-games .
Levels are divided into semesters. Each semester features 3 mini-games and 3 people from each group. Every group has the same mini-games, but has different difficulty settings. In order to proceed onto the next semester you must beat all the mini games for each group. Once you beat all 3 mini-games the group issues a Dare. (which is basically a harder version of one of the mini games) and after a Dare is completed a Challenge is offered. Once a Challenge has been beaten you get the option to proceed onto the next semester. To tell you the truth I would rather drop.
No Class
In general the mini games aren’t entertaining or educational. Most of them involve a lot of running around and pressing a button. They’re very short and basic but they all seem kind of pointless. They tend to get tedious since you have to play them about 4 times a semester.
What’s even worse is the way this game functions and operates. Unless you enjoy history class,. Passwords to resume a savepoint? Are you serious? It’s on freakin cartridge!! It’s not like the graphics are taking up all the space on the game.
In Conclusion
Overall I learned nothing from my experience at Pacific Coast Academy, Even if this game is targeted towards the pre-teen Nickelodeon fan girls, there is zero educational value, the graphics blow and the mini games aren’t entertaining what so ever…. just like the TV show
