Netflix Streaming Movies On Xbox Live
Posted By: Patrick Roche-Sowa - Monday, July 14, 2008 11:29 AM

At Microsoft's press conference this morning, it was announced that Netflix will be streaming movies over Xbox Live for all existing customers. This means you can stream movies as part of your already existing account over your Xbox on your big-screen tv. Not only that, but by using the new Live Party option,  you can watch these streaming movies with your friends, and they don't even have to have a Netflix account of their own. That's pretty sweet. That's all we know for now, but we'll keep you posted when more details drop.

You can keep your blue ray players, Sony. Having the Netflix library over the 360 is a much better value.

a few questions here:
A) Will this be for gold accounts only?
B) Will these be HD or just standard quality?
C) Will they have more movies become available? (heard that is one of the biggest drawbacks to the net flix online is that they can not show any newer movies due to rights management.

I am not sold on this idea yet, but it COULD be a nice move.

It would be awesome if current netflix customers get the movies for free. Or at least discount.

More details here http://www.xbox.com/en-US/comm unity/events/e32008/articles/0 714-netflixteamup.htm

If you already have Xbox LIVE Gold and a Netflix account, then there is no additional cost to watch unlimited streaming Netflix.

More movies and TV episodes are added to Netflix every week, the number doubled from 5000 to 10000 between January and June.

@ScottFleener
As long as you have a Netflix acount (curently or in the future) I'm pretty sure it's free, your not downloading the movies to keep just streaming them. Just like that roku box thing.

you can all keep your 720p rented movies.

I'll go to my local store and pick up a copy that I can own and watch at 1080P with lossless video.

HD-DVD is dead. Nuff' said. FTW!
