When it comes to PC gaming, speed is all you need. Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn review the Cyberpower Gamer Xtreme PC, with its Intel Core i7 975 processor, dual Nvidia GTX 295 video cards and more, all starting at $1,360. This may be the fastest gaming PC on Gadget Pr0n yet!
What You Need to Know
- The Cooler Master Sniper Case that comes with this system is big
- It's kind of ugly with all the lumps and grates, but it is at least practical with lots of ventilation and a ton of USB ports with a fan controller on the top
- It could have been smaller and sleeker, but one advantage of a giant case is room for expansion
- All the cabling is very minimal and out of the way
- The liquid cooling system doesn't take up much space
- Lots of hard drive bays and memory slots make it ready for upgrading
- CyberPower gave us their highest-end system, which includes dual Raptor hard drives and a Blu-ray writer
- In our normal 3DMark Vantage Test it scored 34,500 points, beating our second fastest computer (Maingear) by a whole 7,000 points
- When loading up games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, it's super fast; it only takes a couple of seconds and you're up and running
- We maxed out every setting and it doesn't slow down at all
Price
- This state of the art system is $3,849, but you can get the base model for $1,360 and it is worth every penny
- Even though the Maingear system from a few months ago was a better deal at $3,000, it wasn't nearly as fast
Overall Rating
- 4.5 Seals of Approval out of 5 (How do we rate gadgets?)
