Still not convinced about the new iPhone 3GS? No worries, because Chris Hardwick is here to give a hands-on review of the fastest iPhone yet, with an improved 3 megapixel camera, video recording capabilities and much, much more.
What You Need To Know
- The new 3GS offers an array of new features, including an improved camera, voice control, a digital compass, 15 gigs of storage and more.
- The design of the phone is practically the same as the 3G with some small improvements: a brighter screen, less fingerprints.
- The 3GS includes double the RAM (256MB) and 200 more megahertz (600 over 400).
- Compared to the SG, applications launch faster, pages load quicker and is overall much snappier.
- Hopefully, they will integrate multi-tasking like the Palm Pre.
- Pictures look better with more warmth, detail and are not nearly as blurry.
- Video also looks great and the application works well so you can scrub through the timeline and edit videos right on the phone. You can only email about 6 megs (around 45 seconds) of video though.
- There is still no flash on the camera.
- Overall, it's not the best camera on the cell phone, but better than the 3G.
- Other useful features like Voice Control and the Digital Compass are useful. The compass is integrated with Google Maps and shows which way you are facing.
Price
- $200 with an AT&T contract, all worth the price with improved battery life!
- However, if you already have the 3G, buying a new 3GS may not be necessary.
Rating
- 4.5 Seals of Approval out of 5 (How do we rate gadgets?)
