AOTB Original: Idiot Box Art Show
Posted By: Dana Vinson - Monday, April 13, 2009 5:17 PM

Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles is a hub of cutting edge pop culture novelties, the likes of which is so cool, the land between the coasts couldn't even start to fathom its awesomness.

This time around, Gallery 1988 hosted Idiot Box, an art show totally devoted to pieces inspired by everyone's favorite form of distraction, television. Dozens of artists contributed works influenced by iconic TV shows like Lost, Alf and Twin Peaks.

As if awesome art wasn't enough, the opening party was hosted by the one, the only Dennis Haskins AKA Mr. Belding from the incredibly popular and beloved hit Saved By The Bell.

Watch the video below for interviews with Mr. Belding and some of the nerd art elite and then peep the photo gallery to get up close and personal with some of the pieces.

Idiot Box runs through April 23rd at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. Click here to visit their site and get all the info!

Gallery 1988 Los Angeles Presents Idiot Box Tomorrow Night

Exciting things happen in Los Angeles all the time. I mean, the G4 offices are here and we're a non-stop nerd party 24/7. If you live in LA, you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, tomorrow night we're hitting the streets to cover the opening night party for Idiot Box, the newest installation at the famed Gallery 1988 Los Angeles.

The exhibit features television-inspired art from some of today's hottest up-and-coming arists. Gallery 1988 is known for housing some very cool pop culture events and our cameras will be there to bring you all the excitement.

As if seeing really neat art weren't enough, the evening's guest of honor is the one, the only Dennis Haskins aka Principal Belding from Saved By The Bell!

So, if you're in town tomorrow, you should come on down to Gallery 1988 from 7pm to 11pm to check out Idiot Box, meet Mr. Belding and hang out with me and our G4 crew as we cover the fun for all the blogosphere to see.

Also, if you can't make it in person, I'll be Twittering live from the event on the AOTS feed. Follow us!

For now, click the tag below to see more of the awesome art that will be on display!

Indiana Jones 4 Premiere at Cannes
Posted By: Ty Colfax - Friday, May 23, 2008 4:51 PM

Blaire Butler hangs out with the legendary George Lucas, the ingenius Harrison Ford, and the dreamy Shia Lebeouf at the official Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull debut at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

Not just any film gets an exclusive premiere at the most premiere, exclusive film festival in the world. And not just any Blaire Butler is interviewing the cast and crew.

Legend Of The Crystal Skull
Posted By: Eugene Morton - Friday, May 23, 2008 4:30 PM

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is set to tear up movie theaters starting today, much to the delight of long time Indie fans, but there’s one question that’s on everyone’s mind.

We’ve heard of the lost ark, we know what the holy grail is, but what’s the legend behind the crystal skull?

Prepare to be educated about the lore of the crystal skull in today’s show. It won’t be all that different from attending one of Dr. Jones’ archaeology seminars.

Cannes Paparazzi
Posted By: Ty Colfax - Thursday, May 22, 2008 4:52 PM

Blair Butler spends a day with the paparazzi at the Cannes Film Festival to find out what it’s like chasing celebrities all over France.

Watch the curly comic queen bop around and get into trouble. It's good stuff.

'Indiana Jones' Midnight Screening
Posted By: Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 22, 2008 4:25 PM

Much like Star Wars, the Indiana Jones franchise has a rabid fan base. Of course, we’ve found that most Indie fans don’t live with their moms until they’re in their late thirties, but that doesn’t mean that the fans of the whip wielding wonder are any less hardcore.

In fact, they might even be more so. We’ll find out when we see the madness that took place during the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull midnight screening later today on Attack!

Cannes: Underground
Posted By: Mike D'Alonzo - Wednesday, May 21, 2008 4:50 PM

Sure, we know about the big movies that are playing at the Cannes Film Festival, but what about the lesser-known “B” movies out there on the circuit?

Blair Butler has been in France for what seems like weeks, enjoying fine wines and cheeses and wandering the streets looking for the scoops on the underground films that few others will admit to.

That's what makes her our Blair. That, and the contract.

A Cannes Overview With Blair Butler
Posted By: Mike D'Alonzo - Tuesday, May 20, 2008 4:51 PM

Blair Butler got to go to the Cannes Film Festival, and see all of the great movies that came out over the course of the past week. And now, she's back to let us know what went on there. Sure, she might be a little jet lagged, but that won't stop her from giving us the scoop on films like Kung Fu Panda, Tyson, and Blindness.

So, if you're into movies at all, and who isn't, this should hold your interest!

Kevin Pereira On NPR’s Marketplace
Posted By: Eugene Morton - Tuesday, May 20, 2008 11:39 AM

AOTS’s own Kevin Pereira is stopping by NPR’s Marketplace today to discuss the incredible and indelible Beamz Music Performance System. You’ll remember Beamz from last week’s QVC Showdown.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, tune in today to KCRW (89.9 FM) at 2 pm or KPCC (89.3 FM) at 3 pm and again at 6:30 pm (or feel free to listen online). May the Beamz be with you!

'Indiana Jones 4' At Cannes
Posted By: Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, May 19, 2008 4:32 PM

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull made a big, splashy premiere this past weekend in Cannes, at the Cannes Film Festival, and our own Blair Butler was there to talk to George Lucas, and Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, about the film and what to expect.

And that's not peanuts, kiddies.

Playmate of the Year
Posted By: Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, May 12, 2008 4:56 PM

Chris Gore might be the luckiest man in the whole wide world. While the rest of us are toiling in the Attack of the Dungeon, he's out trolling the Playboy Mansion for bunnies. In fact, Chris was lucky enough to be in attendance when Hef announced the 2008 Playmate of the Year, and, thankfully was carrying a camera crew along for the ride.

Mr. Gore gets to the bottom of all this bunny business as he furnishes us with interviews with POTY, Jayde Nicole, Hugh Hefner and some of the past playmates. Again, he's the luckiest person we know.

Red Bull Air Races
Posted By: Mike D'Alonzo - Friday, May 09, 2008 12:00 PM

On today's Attack of the Show, we go to San Diego to watch the Red Bull air races. This ain't flugtag, buddy, it's a real competitive racing circuit that pits planes against each other on a death-defying course. It's totally awesome, but you don't have to take our word for it. You can watch it yourself on today's show.

Won't that be a gas?

'What Happens In Vegas' First Look
Posted By: Ty Colfax - Friday, May 09, 2008 9:09 AM

Ever fantacized about going to Vegas, getting married on a drunken whim, woke up with an intense sense of regret, agreed on an annulment, then hit the jackpot on a slot machine, causing a virtual war for the winnings?

Whether you answered yes or no to this question, there's a movie about it. It's called What Happens in Vegas and it stars Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz. You'll get a preview of it on today's show. Good times!

'Poultrygeist' Red Carpet
Posted By: Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 08, 2008 2:22 PM

Of all the Hollywood parties and special events, nothing compares to the premiere of a Troma movie.

The (blood) red carpet event for their new film, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead featured odd characters, beautiful, buxom women and the best C-list celebs Tinsel Town has to offer.

We were on hand for the festivities and it was truly a sight to behold. Trod the red carpet with us later today, won’t you?

'Speed Racer' First Look
Posted By: Eugene Morton - Thursday, May 08, 2008 11:37 AM

We remember hearing the Speed Racer theme song for the first time, a catchy tune which ended with the words, “Go Speed Racer, go!”

We must confess, one place we thought Speed would never go was to the big screen. The cartoon (even the revamped series than ran during the early 90s) was great, but we didn’t believe someone would ever make the thing into a live action film. We’re so glad we were wrong.

Today, we’ll gladly present a preview of the film to you Speed freaks. Go, Speed Racer, go!
