Perplex City
Posted By: Scott Moschella - Tuesday, March 21, 2006 4:41 PM
Perplex City is, by far, one of the coolest, most accessible, most profitable ($200,000!) and fun ARGs that we've yet seen. It looks deceptively easy: Buy some cards, solve the puzzles on them, visit the Perplex City website and enter the correct answer. Boost your score, piece together the map puzzle on the card backs and try to figure out where the hell that money's hidden. Sure, you get some decent Perplex City goodies for passing score milestones, but everyone's really after the big prize.

Here's the catch: these puzzles are addictive. Once you start solving these damn things, they get under your skin. Pretty soon you're carrying the ones you're having trouble with around with you - you're asking strangers for help.

Help us solve this one in the
comments and we'll be forever grateful.

The puzzles are really well-designed and if you have some patience, you'll probably be able to figure out many of the solutions without even using Google. We're admitting right now that we've used Google and it rarely (if ever) helped. Not only that, but each card is a bonafide work of art created by some of the UK's top illustrators and graphic designers.

The story's much bigger than the cards. There's numerous sites in the Perplex City universe that you'll need to explore in order to figure out just where the Receda Cube (the money!) is at. Get started at perplexcity.com.

So what do you need to play? Buy yourself a pack of cards. Once you start, you'll soon be hitting eBay to buy boxes of these things to feed your puzzle addiction. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Get the cards!

I could be wrong, but look these over...I'm almost sure that these are all correct.
Contra Code
Street Fighter 2
Sim City
Doom
The Sims
Super Mario Kart
Another World
Tomb Raider
Wing Commander
Jet Set Willy
I'm new to this, so I'm not sure how you solve the puzzle yet, but hopefully this helps.

Sorry, I didn't mean to add 2 posts, my browser refreshed the page after I posted and I hit 'retry' on instinct...and I realize this is my 3rd post now...but I was just curious...can I have a job on the show now? Maybe as your own personal puzzle solver guy? Think it over, my people are standing by.

what was the card that needed to be lit to find the letters? are these cards named or numbered?

Posted by guyp - Wednesday, March 22, 2006 2:03 AM
Hey redokami, the cards are named *and* numbered! See here: http://www.perplexcitycardcata log.com/ (WARNING: May spoil the joyful surprise of opening hott, fresh packs.) Also, each individually printed card has a unique number on it under a scratch-off panel that you can enter on the www.perplexcity.com website to earn points.

num 5 is definately the Sims money cheat, alt ctrl shift c brings up the input box, klapaucius is the code.

#'s 1, 2, and 6 are all for N64 games, hence the "C" button shapes, also, the Contra code has a "BA" before "start".
*sorry about double post!*
