 I have 77 program icons that appear on my program screen. There are three columns of icons that cover the area and over half have the carrot sign. When I click on this I can't get my mouse to the other side in time in order to open it.

I've installed a new hard drive as a slave to the original, and am having trouble moving programs to my new, larger drive. Do I have to uninstall the programs on the old drive and reinstall them on the new one? Can I move Windows, the largest folder?
Sometimes I get emails-- especially forwarded jokes-- that have a lot of angle brackets. Why does this happen, and how can I correct it?

When my hard drive went out this past December, I upgraded to FAT32. Now when I run defrag, it never finishes, even when I let it run overnight. I got a warning when upgrading that not all OSs and utilities would work, but I thought defrag would.
With Windows 95, the bootup starts out fast, then slows to a crawl and stops for awhile, then continues again very slowly. I have a 166 MHz with 32 megs of RAM. What can I do to speed things up?

How fast is Windows 98, really? I've read that it's faster than Windows 95 with IE 4.x installed, but my experience is that IE 4 makes Windows 95 really sluggish, so that's not saying much.
I'm trying to make my own avatar for the TechTV chat room. I created one and saved it as a .gif in the avatar directory. When I used the TechTV chat software to change my avatar, the one I made just showed a white block.

I installed Outlook and IE 4.0 and everything works great. After I first installed the software, the toolbar would disappear and reappear with a smooth fluid motion, rather than just popping up. Now it's gone back to the old way and I'd like it back.
I just bought a second computer and I want to upgrade the cache and video card memory, but the manufacturer of the system seems to charge about five times the going rate for these. Are there third-party vendors where I can get these at discount prices?

I have Win95. I've noticed that people who have Win95B have these 3D screen savers. How do I add this feature? Do I need to upgrade to Win95B?
I use Lotus SmartSuite and ViaVoice Gold, both from IBM. Both have now been updated, to Lotus SmartSuite 98 and ViaVoice 98 Executive Edition. Are the updates worth the price and trouble?
I recently upgraded to Netscape Communicator 4.05 from 4.01. I import my old bookmarks from a floppy, finish on the Web, shut down, and get an error message. When I attempt to reopen my browser, I get the same error, and I have to shut down.

I used to be able to use more than one type of browser to access the Internet, but suddenly this became impossible. I get an error message citing a problem with Winsock. I have tried every version of Netscape and Explorer and have reached a dead end.
I have an internal Zip ATAPI IDE drive. It works great in Windows, but when I go to DOS mode or to DOS, it is not recognized. I have gone to Iomega's website, but I got no help. Can you help me to get this running in DOS?

OK, let's say I go ahead and purchase Win98 and install it, but then I decide I don't like it and want my Win95 back. Will uninstalling Win98 cause big problems and render my computer a useless clothes rack?
I load my modem sharing software on startup, and the updated version loads, but I have to push the OK button after it loads. Is there a way to get Windows to do this for me?

Windows has a folder for cookies. In that folder is a file called index.dat. I have tried to move this file so that I can do a mass delete, but I have to delete them all separately!

At some point when Windows is filling my screen with icons, a black box pops up on the screen for just a few seconds, too fast for me to read anything except the word "Cupid" at the top of the box. What is this, and what does it mean?

I put a Zip drive on my Compaq system and lost my DVD. The system moved my DVD to the E: drive. Compaq, after three calls sent a fix on disk that was no help. The drive could play CDs but not a DVD.

My Netscape gets a page fault error, so I called Netscape and they told me to download kernel32. I did it-- and now Netscape doesn't run at all!
I downloaded IE 4.01 from Microsoft. After the setup program, I chose to restart my computer. It finished the setup, then a white box opened up and stated "Program Error: Stack Overflow." I hit OK and the box disappeared-- but so did my icons.

I have Microsoft Explorer and whenever I enter a name like TechTV on the address line, the browser goes to the site with no problems, but if I enter the name including the http://www. part, I get a message that the site isn't available. Why?

I have Internet Explorer 4.0, and it seems like every time I try to go to a new webpage, I always get a message that says the document has permanently moved. Is it me or what?
My friend has an old 386 computer running Win 3.1,  and it has maybe 4MB of RAM. Since he added a Zip drive, tasks that used to take 5 minutes, now take 15. I suggested that he remove the Zip.
